I still think about those brownies… all the time. They are by far the best brownies in town. If I could afford to gain a few kilos I would have them more often.
OMG yummmmmmm!!! Loved the concept of Honey cake, Sue Lewis and sugarplum all in the same place – a dessert lovers paradise Had coffee from sugarplum, with cheese cake from Honey cake and chocolate from Sue Lewis – a real treat !!
The best chocolate in town.Bought and tried the salted caramel, lemon myrtle, raspberry, limited edition truffle, whiskey and jasmine tea (don’t judge!). The salted caramel is a must! All the chocolates tasted homemade and not too sweet. Each was a flavor hit – the jasmine tea truffle uses tea from the little tea shop next door. $3.50 per truffle or cheaper if you buy more in boxes. They also sell brownies, jars of chocolate balls, hot chocolate powder etc. They also serve hot chocolate. Kokoblack chocolateis good, but this is sooo much better! Lovely service too. They know their (chocolate) stuff!
The concept in these buildings is so grown up and sophisticated. I think it is something that Perth has been waiting for. Sue Lewis adds the right balance. If your pockets are too shallow for the restaurants up stairs then this boutique chocolatier will sort you out.
Always great and knowledgeable staff here. The chocolates are very special. The shop is in the beautiful basement area of the renovated State building (St George’s Tce entrance). The space is restful and peaceful; the chocolates are little treasures.
Today I went downstairs again to explore the other of thethree foodie spots in the Treasury, Sue Lewis Chocolatier. I love this space with its exposed rustic brickwork. The lady behind the counter was friendly and offered me three samples to try; I tried the chocolate fennel which was delicious. They have a nice selection of chocolates and truffles. I decided on the selection of six which comes beautifully boxed as you can see in the photo. Or if have the urge to eat them there, then theres a communal table or some tables outside to enjoy them. Definitely will be back.UPDATE: Now that I have tried all six varieties I have to confess it is very difficult to choose my favourite; they are all outstanding. I tried the champagne, lemon myrtle, sea salted caramel, Pavlova, crme brulee, and Ardbeg single malt truffles. The malt truffle was a real revelation. I have to confess I dont like whisky, but the truffle filling was unusual in that it had a special earthiness and smoky flavor that was amazing; something for the cooler months perhaps. Another surprising one was the lemon myrtle, and again it had a nice earthy flavour with a bit of tartness and some berry flavours; to me it tasted a bit like sour cherry. The salted caramel, well what can I say, I love this and maybe if I was forced to like only one then this would be it. But all in all, I would go with the selection again because they were all very good.
