Disgusted. This shop makes great fish and chips and that is why I enjoyed going there. I went last Monday evening 7/10/2013, for the Monday night special which is $5.95. I was in the process of ordering and paying for my order when the owner suddenly appeared in the shop and ordered the boy taking the order to charge $6.00 rather than the advertised price. When I protested and mentioned the advertised price was written on the window and the additional small increase in the charge was misleading, the owner began shouting abusively and aggressively, took my money from the boy’s hand and said that if I did not like it, I could leave. He told me that he would refuse to serve me and directed me to leave the store. I felt intimidated and threatened by him. Surely one should not have to pay anything but the designated price. Sadly, although the food is great, I shall not be returning and shall let others know about this man’s abusive manner. It was anything but respectful.
Love this old-fashioned fish and chip shop!. This is old-school fish and chips at its best. Lovely Scottish bloke running the place and very cool (and polite) surfer dudes manning the fryer. The service is very friendly and the food superb. The owner doesn’t pass off cheap fish as something expensive, he’ll tell what’s in and what’s not. We love the Red Emperor and Barra. The serves are generous and the price very reasonable. For a big piece of Barra and enough chips for 3 people (with some left over) it was only $13. As well as seafood he also does extras such as burgers, peas and gravy and pretty much anything deep fried. You can have your fish crumbed, grilled or battered. It doesn’t take long although grilled can take a little longer. If you don’t want to wait just ring ahead and order.When you drive into the complex you might think twice, but looks are deceiving! This place is a hidden gem. The Indian and Thai restaurants in the complex are fantastic too, we often go door-to-door and pick up something from each.
