PUB FOODIf you are going to Toby’s restaurant you need to be aware that it now serves a “Pub Food” menu. Previously this restaurant offered a good selection of dishes in several different styles. The recent new menu has very limited selections. There is a steak and a barramundi at $35.00 each which we were not prepared to pay for on a pub food menu and we opted for the Fish & Chips and the Chicken Parma in the mid $20.00 range for each dish. We were disappointed with the new slant at this restaurant, however the meals were OK and the staff friendly. Hint, arrive before 7.00pm and you can purchase your drinks at happy hour prices which are reasonable. Check the restaurant opening days and times, as they are limited.
Arrived at 7.30 on a friday night without a booking and all 4 of us were quickly seated. Suprised on a Friyay it was so empty but i guess the main crowd they are pulling is hotel patrons (which the 4 of us were not). I think because it was empty the atmosphere was a bit blerghh and felt more like we were at a little country cafe rather than a fancy hotel resteraunt. The decor is gorgeous and the place looked fantastic. The first gal to serve us was quick off the bat to give us the array of chefs specials for the night she was kind and bubbly and i wish she served us for the rest of the night. Only 1 vegetarian option for main which is subject to change so was a bit bummed about that as its nice to have options but also ordered bread in preparation to fill me up. The man who took our orders was a lot less friendly and seemed very disinterested in his job and helping us with any questions we had. Food took almost an hour to get to us and we were hangry AF so it was frustrating having to wait especially since we smashed the pumpkin bread in a few moments. Chicken parmy was like a fricken ostrich rather than a chicken, bloody massive serve but not much flavour. Curry was well recieved and my veggo pasta tasty and a reasonably sized serving. Overall was not happy with the experience and would not go out of my way to attend again unless i was staying at the hotel.
Christmas Day Breakfast We had a beautiful buffet breakfast on Christmas morning. Lots to choose from and it was all cooked beautifully. Atmosphere was great. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Chef came through for ordering of egg styles to go with meal. Would go again.
We stayed in Whyndam resort and enjoyed the restaurant it was worth of a class venue. The service was excellent and the food was flawless. We didn’t challenge our taste buds with Steak but a mixed entree was enormous and the wine list was pretty good couldn’t fault it.
