MERRIWA CAFE- absolute waste of my time and effort! 20 minute wait for two hot drinks. While the one front of house staff member served all takeaway patrons first, she kept me waiting, while she made paying customers coffees first (I had a scoopon). The temperature of the milk was WAAAAY to hot. I left the coffee. The menu was poor. Nothing was appealing. I ended up ordering nachos. Average. My husband had Cajun chicken burger. Which he was I was average also. The atmosphere and decor is lacking. The staff member lacked enthusiasm. Tables were left with dirty dishes on them. Definitely not worth a visit!!!
MERRIWA Hardware Cafe. This review is for the Merriwa cafe not the Quinns one. And what a totally dismal experience it was. To start with, there’s absolutely no ambience in this cafe. A group of 6 of us had Sunday lunch here. The end of the bench seat had a large smear of cake crumbs from the last occupants. Three tables were put together – one of them was a different size to the others (there was only one other occupied table in the place so a correct sized table could have been used). The food took ages to arrive – the orders included seafood baskets, chicken parmi, homemade meat pie, B.L.A.T. sandwich. I think my BLAT was the pick of the bunch – most of it was fine except the tomato …. aaah, the tomato. What had they done to it to make it so blech? Maybe it had been cut up and put in the fridge since the beginning of the week? It looked and tasted like that anyway. The seafood meals looked very unappealing to me. The batter was pale and glistening with fat – there was no crunch and the batter kind of dissolved into mush when touched by a knife or fork so clearly hadn’t been cooked long enough. The parmi was apparently ok in parts – but seemed under cooked in others so the person who ordered it ended up leaving it rather than risk eating under cooked chicken. The meat pie had been taken out of the cabinet when the order was placed and left until the other meals were ready at which time is was zapped in the microwave to bring it up to temp. The service …… the counter staff were not presenting very well at all. One young lady had a distinctly grubby apron over her black tights which, as we found out when she was serving the other table, had holes in the back thigh area. Also, there were three visits to our table to drop off food and it wasn’t until I actually requested on the fourth visit that the waitress removed a dirty coffee cup and a large empty plate from the garlic bread entree that she did so rather than return to the kitchen empty-handed.A slice of cake had been ordered earlier for one of the party but when it arrived the person was unable to eat it so requested a ‘doggy bag’. The waitress returned with an empty chip box and left it for us to sort out. The box was too small for the cake and the whole thing ended up as a mushed up gooey mess of lemon meringue disaster in a cardboard box. There are some serious issues that need to be sorted out here – quite frankly, I wouldn’t go back if I was paid to.
Wow, that was better than expected. I don’t mean that in an malicious way, but a slightly unprepossessing frontage in Quinns Rocks, belied the quality coffee being produced within. Didn’t hang around for food, but would drop in if I was around and needed caffeine, would certainly now be tempted to try more.
Very uncomfortable seating, coffee was not very good and only warm, had the order messed up and had to redo it to get the correct order, was initially over charged but after bringing to the attention of the cashier she refunded the difference. Would not waste my time by trying this place again.
Atmosphere was quite nice. The service was very friendly and professional. The coffee was a little burnt; however the chicken omelette was very well presented and delicious. The omelette was presented on a sour dough toasted bread and was quite full of chicken pieces, tomotoes, herbs and a perfect amount of cheese. Without a doubt the best chicken omelette I’ve had anywhere. It was a large serving and is good value for money.I would definitely go back again.
Bloody hell, i ordered the ‘Full Toolbox’ (big breakfast) there was enough food to sink a battleship. The cheese & kisses went for the omelette and i think chickens might now be an endangered species. Mine was great, hers was unfortunately well overcooked – caramelised i think they call it nowadays! Anyway overall not a bad way to start the day and the price was ok. Now where did those running shoes go i need to burn off some of those pesky calories.
Nice casual dining, good prices, nice staff and dog friendly (sitting outside) Also accepts entertainment voucher which is a bonus Will defo return
