Bad service, ordered coffee and scones w jam and cream- asked for butter to go with the (extremely dry) scones and was charged 50c for a tiny pat- um what the..? Also asked for a glass of tap water for my little girl but was told they don’t serve tap water I would need to buy a bottle. Disgusting rip off. Then the waitress tried to keep clearing our table when were still eating and drinking… Like 4 times! Ridiculous. Bring a picnic.

Overpriced food! Do NOT eat here. I couldn’t find a recent review online so figured maybe things had improved over the last couple of years. NOPE!My husband and I ate here for lunch on a Wednesday during tulip time. We both ordered the quiche Lorraine which came with a side salad and chips. We also each had a flat white. The cost for the lot was about $45.The quiche serving was what I would classify as TINY and the bacon/ham within appeared grey (ew!). There was also some orange coloured crust on the top- maybe a cheese of some sort? The garden salad was covered in RAW ZUCCHINI (I think maybe someone doesn’t know the difference between cucumber and zucchini as there was no cucumber present). The chips weren’t salted but were cooked well enough. No sauce was served as had been stated on the menu. Had I not been brought up to just eat what’s on my plate to be polite I would have promptly sent this back and requested my money back. How could 3 simple things be so wrong? The coffee is definitely not barista made. It was not worth the $5 or so for a mug! Tasted like it was out of an automated machine. How do they call this place a cafe?! I’ve had better coffee at roadhouses in central Australia.I was seriously disappointed that we ate at this cafe. I was unaware that further down the hill we could have purchased food from market type stalls which would have been half the price, and looked like generous servings and delicious morsels! Next time…I didn’t have high expectations for a cafe in these gardens as I was there for the flowers, not the food. However charging these prices is criminal when the quality is as poor as it was today. I am kicking myself that we wasted our money here- please don’t make the same mistake!

Very very rude counter staff and waitresses. Mediocre food.Went to the lovely gardens yesterday with overseas guests and decided to have lunch at the Chalet Healy. It was busy so we waited outside to be seated for 25 minutes which was fine, school holidays! My son ordered our meals at the counter, including 2 bowls of ice cream for the children’s deserts. After a 40 minute wait the waitress brought the 2 ice creams! I explained that we would need to give the children their meals first and was told very abruptly that they were far too busy to bring them back later and that it was a cafe NOT a restaurant! Our meals came 20 minutes later and were alright but next time we visit Araluen, we’ll take a picnic.

Very rude lady. Such a beautiful park and venue, but the lady answering the phone and working in the cafe was really rude. We bought coffees down in the park. Rather take a picnic. She just spoils this peaceful environment.
