Dear Owners of Whistling Kite,I just ordered the $34 barramundi and it was vile. The skin was flaccid, the texture and smell unpleasant, the tortellini bounce worthy rubbery, the fennel overcooked, the peas dried and yet somehow still frozen and the overall dish a complete nightmare. Although this was deducted from our bill, nobody explained or apologised or followed up and we’ve now left and won’t return nor recommend. I sincerely feel like the chef should own what he/she put out, a ridiculous expensive mess of horrid.
I enjoyed the ambience, was good for a Friday lunch. Service was fast and friendly, and the food was pretty good pub food. Would go again if had too but won’t return too soon.
All meals ordered on one number, my meal (a salad) arrived before anyone else’s, after waiting 5 mins, I started and finished before my friends meals arrived. I spoke to the girl delivering second round of meals and she walked off without responding. When I went in side to explain that it wasn’t very nice, the young girl told me that that was they way it was if we payed separately regardless of the fact it was ordered on the same table number. I said well maybe you could warn customers of this and she shrugged and walked off.
Great atmosphere, partner had mussels and loved them! I had Margherita pizza. Dough undercooked and cheese half melted, cold when it hit the table. Waitress looked like she was ready to cry. Disappointed as we heard great things.
Service very average and whilst the main I had was acceptable the price was not good value and it was not top shelf dining. Ordered wine with the meal and ended up cancelling that order after asking about it once after it still not coming. The price of the wine and was somewhat excessively high for the selection on the drinks menu, ordinary at best. A bowl of chips as a side tasted like they were about a week old and had been continually reheated. Attitude of table staff was less than pleasant although courteous. I would not be rushing back anytime soon.
We went there Saturday afternoon. One the beer glass my husband had had lipstick still on it. My husband had the barramundi and so did our friend and they both said it was really greasy and didn’t eat it. Disappointed
Have always loved my experience at the Whistling Kite, great atmosphere, excellent and very friendly staff…never a bad or sour thing to say about anyone of themBut the new uniforms, mainly the aprons are terrible. I mean really, has the Kite turned into another wannabe hipster barThere is a difference between classy and poser and the uniforms make me believe that this may be the way the Kite is headed. I hope this isnt the case though, change back to the old uniform….its shocking
