Catch 22 VEGAN NIGHTTickets were $45pp and included THREE Cocktails and three Tapas per person, so was well worth it for the money.I enquired the week before about Vegan options on the menu and there was only one option (small tapas, so not enough for one person for a meal) and the vegetarian options weren’t able to be made veganised so we walked out, which was a little disappointing considering the chef is broadening their horizons in doing Vegan nights and was not able to make something up on the night. I would love to see more Vegan options on the menu in the future, if I were to come back here again. So, the Vegan night went really well and my partner and myself really enjoyed it. The cocktails were nice, a little too sweet and the espresso martini at the end was really strong and bitter and I looked around and noticed not everyone managed to finish theirs. They made a real good effort of decorating the place for us vegans …someone with a sense of humour hung carrots from the ceiling and we had a vase of vegan flowers at the table – kale and celery and a sign – ”Its beginning to look a lot like Vegan”. Nice touches :)My partner and myself booked in for 7pm which was a popular choice as they had the separate area for the Vegan section and most people were already there. We all got served at the same time and the waitresses left enough time in between cocktails and tapas that we weren’t waiting for too long yet long enough to spread the evening out nicely and enjoy the beautiful view and atmosphere. The staff were all really friendly and the girls that served us were very knowledgeable about the dishes that we were served and what was in the cocktails. One thing though, we weren’t given any water for the table. The first dish was a satay vegetable dish which was delicious and my favourite out of the three, although I don’t often eat fried food, this was very good and not too overdone. The cocktail the accompanied it was Gin based with passionfruit a little on the sweet side but very refreshing. The second Tapas dish was a steamed bun with chargrilled vegetables and salsa on a slider. It was very tasty (minus the bun which was a bit pale looking and very heavy) we had a prosecco, strawberry liquor and disaronno cocktail to accompany this tapas – my favourite cocktail out of the three. For the third tapas of the night we had a Raw cheesecake with fresh fruit and a very strong / bitter tasting. it would have been better with Kahlua and I struggled to finish mine and looking around most other people did too.All in all a great night, would love to see a few more options on the menu so were not limited to eating out on vegan nights only. herbivorechef.com
