Havent been here for a while, venue has been renovated and looks more modern. They also got some chairs to sit and enjoy your coffees and pastries/cakes). Almond Croissant, Escargot and Lamington were good. Will always go back when in neighbourhood.
Abhis Bread in South Fremantle has been on my list for a while. I have tried their zopf when they used to have a stand at the Fremantle markets, but that is no more. We went in for coffee/teas and cake for three and at $22 we thought it was a pretty good deal. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful. I had my usual long Mac and their delicious walnut brownie slice, my dad the vanilla slice, and Viv the apple muffin. Dad loved the slice saying hes never had a slice like this in Australia with the real cream, in fact, he said they were as good as they were in Switzerland. Which I guess is no surprise given the baker is originally from there! My brownie was excellent too; light, chocolate and not overly sweet. Coffee was good too. We all took a loaf of bread home for later, but sadly there was no zopf. We were told that you had to order that.
I love an almond croissant. All flakey pastry encasing a soft buttery pillow like god’s own fairy floss. Crisp to the tooth initially, sweet crust, gives way to a catacomb of wanton lust.I also love an older woman. But she will never know.
One of the first specialist bakeries in Freo and now facing stiff competition. But when you see that the bread is from Abhi’s, you know it will be good. Their fruit mince pies are something special.
Hunted this place down specifically for its GF coconut bread – simply the most delicious thing I’ve had for morning tea in a long while and my coeliac kids love it too. However… I realise GF ingredients are expensive but unless the coconut or almond meal is rolled in gold, $19.50 for a small loaf (smaller than your average house brick) really is daylight robbery sorry guys.My kids thought the GF mud cake was average. I bought a jam donut and cream/custard/apple donut to take home – what can I say… jam donuts haven’t changed a scrap since I was young. Still using that fake jam filling. And the custard thing was a bit decadent due to the copious amount of cream jammed in there but really just ordinary bakery fare.My takeaway long macc was very nice though.Abhi’s is nice enough. The service is really friendly and the shop itself neat and quaint. They seem to have the savoury side of things covered with breads and pies etc, but they really could do with a bigger range of sweet stuff. Not sure how long this place has been around but they’ll have to work their guts out to keep up with Manna Foods next door and a handful of other successful cafes within easy reach.
Best cakes ever!. I love Abhis, they make the most delicate and delicious cakes. The pies are also great (and cheap)! Sooo good.
Just ok. Was very excited to try some of abhi’s products and breads. was devastated. I like the bread.tried a couple of pastries but they are very dry and tasteless. sorry guys wont be back…
