There’s always a personal feel to the service here, plenty of newspapers in the morning, and the coffee is excellent. Love the quality ingredients and also the presentation of each dish. Used to go here a lot and will be back soon! Definitely my favourite cafe in Subiaco Square.

Wanted to have something light and quick, I visited Louis Baxters Espresso for the first time. Noticing that they do Matcha Latte, cant help not to order it. The girl who served me was friendly. Unfortunately the Rueben Sandwich wasn’t available today and she recommended jaffle instead. So I pick Ham & Cheese Jaffle. Jaffle was simple yet tasty, just need to cook a bit longer to give more colour (not important). The Matcha Latte wasn’t bad at all. It’s a bit grainy and you have to constantly stir undissolved powder at the bottom of the cup before drinking it. But at least it’s hot, definitely can taste the matcha and got nice latte art too. One thing that excites me is that they sell Cocowhip! It’s good to know that I don’t have to drive far to get one. Will definitely come back when I crave for Cocowhip.

The best coffee in Subi Square. Quick, hot, great service and if you want to sit and relax its a great little spot. I love the mural on the wall. My Monday and Tuesday coffee preference.

Has Louis Baxters upped their game you might ask? After all, over the recent months they have been slogged by negative reviews over shocking customer service. With a free coffee owing on my Rewardle, I thought it was time to check it out again after boycotting the venue a few months ago. Firstly, I noticed some staff changes. Maybe they had been listening. Unfortunately, from the second I opened my mouth, the blonde girl serving acknowledged my order in absolute contempt. I had interrupted her conversation with the barista, you see. Fortunately, they were able to get back into it shortly after I moved away from the counter. The tall barista, with an awfully attempted beard (trying to fit in with the rest of the hipster crowd, presumably) was outright and loudly insulting a previous customer that had come in. Obviously, they had got their own order wrong. Lucky he was there to correct her with what she actually wanted. This went on for some time, extending over the entirety of Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure, playing lightly in the background. The irony was not lost on me. Finally my coffee was ready and I took it without any added thanks from the staff, confirming the image they are trying to cultivate. Louis Baxters are doing YOU a service by letting you sample their nectar of the Gods. You are just an inconvenience and really, you don’t understand coffee – unless you are behind that counter. This is all fine and good, but the kicker is, there are cafes in Subi with a better atmosphere, staff that are human beings and most importantly, with better coffee.

Best coffee in Subiaco, hands down! Campos beans and single origins are amazing! The latte art is incredible too! Love these guys and don’t criticise them for actually knowing their coffee!!!
