A little disappointed with our visit to The Spruce Goose. We came for dinner but we were seated at a small drinks table with an uneven surface. After asking the waitress at the door if there was a table we could move to so we would be able to eat dinner, without her even checking, were told there were no tables available . The restaurant was half empty so this seemed slightly dismissive. We decided to order a small dish to share and go else where to eat. I hope they may consider the purpose of their customers visits in future.
Imagine stepping into a chapter of Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas. Your brain sliding from the relative comfort of a decent pint of Sapporo into the screening meemies of Celine Dion slamming several tabs of bad acid.Settling into a booth with retro chrome flight style seats was interesting. Really it was, I thought for a moment hey this could be good. But like waking up from a big night and discovering a naked transsexual in your bed, I knew we should have stopped at the beer and not decided to keep on going. The food platter was not bad, in truth but being slugged 59$ per head for the platter, was seriously poor form. I agree that Valentines comes with a surcharge but being sodomised didn’t register on my must to do list for the night.Ok, so I have beer, I have food, my wife seems vaguely interested in the music so what could go wrong?A lot!! I have just learnt that that if you combine ether and acid, the trip becomes a lot worse. The Spruce Goose didn’t disappoint. The musicians were pretty ok, enjoyed them. So when you add them and the beer, I feel that a 1 is a worthy rating. Smoke machines, laser lights, massive resonance and a doorman/manager that really shouldn’t have screwed with the lights/sound; the musicians didn’t have a chance to shine.I will probably go back, if only to check that this wasn’t a massively bad trip
We stumbled across this little gem in Subi just recently. The vibe is very cool and the entertainment was impressive. We got stuck into the tapas/share plates and absolutely loved the calamari! OMG – So good! Everything we ordered was very tasty and the cocktail selection was top notch too! Had a great night here and will definitely be coming back soon! Thanks Sprucey Goosey!
Enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Spuce Goose last night, was surprised at how busy it was mid week. The food was Devine, the menu had loads of options, hard to choose. I ordered the squid for entre and pork belly for main and enjoyed every little bit. The live music by Courtney Parker was a beautiful way to enjoy dinner, her choice of music was soulful and soothing. Definitely recommend this restaurant. The owners are wonderfully attentive and great to chat to. Try it out!!
Came here with a voucher. the tapas starters are just above average. But the main was below average. The lamb shank had no taste and very dry. The sauce wasn’t nice. And the green peas that came with the lamb shank tastes like the frozen ones you buy from woollies. If I paid full price for this meal I would be furious. Would not be back.
Also came here with a voucher. Had a lovely meal – starters were generous and tasty, and mains were fine but probably not great value if paying full price. The waitress/hostess we had was very attentive and the live music was a great touch – the singer/guitar player was very good. Would come back for the service and music but some better priced food options would make it much more attractive.
My friends and I went on a Friday night. Bought a scoopon voucher and it was so worth it. We had tapas n mains each. All the food we have was so tasty. We all loved it. There was live music too. Performers were great. Only thing I can say is… the ambiance could be improve. I think the interior lay out n decor is not suitable to what they are trying to create. Love the great food though and hope to be back.
