We ordered a French Apple flan for a birthday , of which proved to be quit difficult to find in Perth ! Presentation was average & it tasted a little on the dry side, and I guess I was expecting more for $30. However when we picked it up we decided to have a bite to eat and coffee, as the cabinet looked to good to refuse . Coffee was excellent, quiche Lorraine was incredible, soft fluffy and just delicious. Ham & cheese croissant was also nice . Very welcoming homely cafe, and good service . Would recommend the quiche for sure
The service was embarrassing for themselves!! She didn’t acknowledge that we had walked in and did not speak at all through out the process of ordering, didn’t even give us the total price, made us look at the till for the price! No conversation what so ever!!! However the raspberry Creme Brle was delicious, the vanilla and musk macarons were also yum!! They need to work on there customer service to make this place incredible!! Would probably not come back after this experience!!
Trying to decide what to order was a challenge. The cabinet is filled with exciting looking treats, with the whole bottom layer dedicated to macarons yum!Whenever I see eclairs I think of my Nana they are her absolute favourite. And when I saw they had a salted caramel clair my decision was easy. That and a long black. The coffee was served way too hot; once it cooled down it was drinkable and not unpleasant. But I was disappointed in the clair. It looked as though it had puffed well in the baking, but it was very soft; perhaps as a result of being exposed to the moist cold air in the cake display cabinet over several days. The filling was a nice balance of sweet and salty, but instead of being silky and smooth it was slightly grainy in texture. With so many cafes around the Cottesloe/Swanbourne/Claremont area I probably wont be back to Choux. What a shame.
Lovely french baked goods, coffee pretty mediocre, staff seem interested if quite glib, nice spot to sit out the back. Overall good but seems to have lost a little of its sparkle in the last year ir so
What a lovely place! Croissants are yummy! The coffee is good too (they must have changed coffee supplier or coffee machine in the past few months) . Good atmosphere. The staff is quite nice too. If you want to eat a French style croissant or pastry, that’s the place!
Amazing ham and cheese croissants! So flaky and buttery! Winner for me! I also ordered the tart of the day – berries tart w/ a shortbread base. Quite sweet for my liking, however I’ll defs visit again and try something else on the menu!
BAD, BAD SERVICE! Just been to Choux to pick up a quiche which we ordered for lunch today (12/02/16). The order was placed and paid for five days ago, to be collected at 9.00 am today.Arrived at 9.15 am to be told by the chef that it wouldn’t be ready until 12.30 because he had been very busy! I could take an alternative (from two options) but I declined. We had specifically ordered a roast vegetable quiche to meet the needs of our lunch guests. I asked what guarantee is there that it would be ready at 12.30 pm. No guarantee – just take an alternative if you want to be certain. The chef then walked off without a hint of an apology or a goodbye!! Nice manners!Pity he couldn’t admit to the fact that he’d botched the order, and try to make amends. Instead we have to rearrange things at considerable inconvenience to ourselves and our guests. Not impressed or happy.PLEASE NOTE! I have a bit of redemption to report on the above; VERY GOOD FOLLOW UP. When we went to collect the item at about 1.00 pm, the lady behind the counter offered an apology and added 5 macaroons to the order free of charge. There was also a home phone message to say the order was ready (although we got that after collecting the order on the way home). WELL DONE FRONT OF HOUSE; BOO TO THE KITCHEN!
