We had a delicious lunch here. My wife enjoyed a generous serve of the seafood chowder and I had the pizza with pork belly, chorizo and a bunch of other stuff. Good services and a very tasty meal. Would go back.
Touted as ‘WA’ s Best Steak Sandwich 2016′, expectations were high and this was probably what made this a particularly ordinary meal. 1. Service was poor. We were not greeted walking in. Once seating ourselves, we waited for a menu, before helping ourselves, and ultimately ordering at the bar after waiting fifteen minutes for table service (which was on offer but not given). 2. Wagyu steak sandwich was dry and tasted bashed to death (why, not sure). It was extremely oily and one dimensional (that dimension being oily). At the very least it needed a pickle or something to lift it out of oily. The bacon was the only nice thing about this sandwich. The side coleslaw (served in stainless steel measuring cup to only half way fill) already looked bad, but was worse upon eating. Who decided to kill the coleslaw with curry powder – extremely bad decision. Chips were ok but could not save this meal. 3. Pappardelle – don’t even bother. I have had meat pies better. Extremely small for $22 entree, gluggly pasta and Luke warm ragout was just lacking. Overall – for $100+ for four just go to maccas. At least you won’t be disappointed.
Service is what lets this place down, and the wait, the food (what I have tried) is actually pretty good. If you can deal with the slow uninterested waiters it’s kind-of-almost worth it
Ordered a Caesar salad and coffee. Soggy croutons, cold bacon, cold egg. Not worth $19 by a long way. Slow, indifferent service and staff chewing gum. Did not feel welcome.
Australia Day with 6 friends 4 gentlemen in our group went to the bar and ordered and payed for beers very good, but the ladies request service at our table for coffee and cake, it took them 15min to take our order then another 30mins to get our order which was wrong when we questioned it to the Waitress she was very rude, we will never return to this shabby service hotel
Absolutely awful. A group of 7 of us decided we would have lunch in the alfresco area of the Esplanade Hotel where we could listen to the performers in the park adjacent on Easter Monday. After catching a waitress’s attention, we were told we had to go inside and order meals from the bar and pay at the time. This seemed unusual at a supposed 4star hotel but we did anyway. Between 2 of us we were able to remember all seven meals. Among our order were 2 pizzas (at $23.95and $21.95) and after paying, were told that these would take 30 minutes to cook. We also ordered a Greek salad, the dipping plate and a ham and cheese sandwich with salad. 30 minutes later our pizzas arrived – sad looking and frozen pizza style and taste with the ham and cheese sandwich which was press toasted and comprised of a tiny slice of ham and cheese (Kraft single?) on thin commercial white bread. No sign of the other dishes. When we asked about the missing food the waitress returned after 10 minutes with the Greek salad and said that the dipping plate had not been requested. After this was sorted, a plate of mini spring rolls, mini dim sims, some sort of strips and meatballs arrived all obviously out of a commercial frozen box. Nobody was able to finish their meal and if we hadn’t had to pay first, we wouldn’t have paid at all. Avoid!!!!
