This is a modern pub bistro down the side of the Exchange. The modern interior looks nice and big but gets crowded and the babies’ screams carry the whole way through. The deck is better if you can get a seat – remember to get your own cutlery from the hard-to-spot station inside first because the staff might not tell you. I had steak and guinness pie, pretty rich and tasty with good mash and a lot of veges. Probably worth the $27 in the outback. I saw some burgers and they were big. Decent range of beers but you could be paying $13+ for a pint.
** 3.5 star rating **Came here with a friend for dinner early in the week. The restaurant was very busy but we were able to get a table. Service was friendly but took a while for the meals to arrive at our tables. I had the chicken schnitzel which was a huge portion. Definitely value for money. It was nice but the creamy garlic sauce could have been more flavoursome.
Lamb shank $20. Sweet. For the price I had no issues at all. Wish I had a pic. I’ve found the service in Kal is surprisingly friendly, not always competent, but friendly. Went home and had a nap.
Excellent pub grub. Recommend the beef and Guinness pie. Schnitzel was pretty good as well. Not too expensive and huge servings. Mid week late lunch restaurant wasn’t too busy, but lots of bookings for the evening
What:Â a. beef burger. ($24)b. lemon lime and bitters. ($9)Review:Food-a. beefy chunky patty; egg, tomato and aioli add much needed juice; leaves oily coating on your mouth.b. standard pub drink, nothing out of the ordinary.Service- could have been quicker and average staff.Ambience- standard open space pub and background music.Overall: Standard pub fare. Over priced in my humble opinion. No need to go out of your way.
