About
Talking about original Austrian Cuisine you cannot go without visiting Schrammelbeisl. There you get served high quality Austrian dishes, seasonal specialties and original food from the Austrian Forrest Quarter (Waldviertel) such as potatoe dumplings and poppy seed noodles. Schrammelbeisl has a long and interesting history behind it: The composer and musician Kaspar Schrammel was born in 1811 in Litschau in the so-called Waldviertel (Forrest Quarter). In 1884 his both sons Johann and Josef Schrammel formed the legendary "Schrammel-Quartett" (typical Viennese type of music) and lived in Hernals, not far from where the restaurant is situated. Schrammelbeisl has been existing since the beginning of the 20th century in the house on Kalvarienberggasse 51; it was revived in the year 2012 introducing Orginal Waldviertel Cuisine. Waldviertel (Forest Quarter) is the northwestern region of Lower Austria.
