Palanez Cafe

About

Palanez a cafe with a musical name in the heart of Grodno city. The name is associated with the work of the famous composer Michal Kleofas Oginski. For twenty years he lived and worked in the Grodno region, where he wrote great music, including his polonaise Farewell to My Homeland. However, not only the name has a rich history, but the building of the cafe itself is a historical object. It was built at the end of XIX century in eclectic style. At various times the first color printing house in Belarus, the Lapin brother's playing cards factory, the soldier's barracks, the offset printing factory and the Grodno regional customs were located here. It is symbolic that Michal Oginski was also related to the customs service, being for several years a member of the Commission Skarbowa of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Cafe "Palanez" is located in the central part of the city. Once here, you will feel a certain solemnity as well as a slightly unhurried atmosphere.
