Owned and operated by Garinagu, indigenous to Hopkins Village, Belize, members of Sandy Beach Women's Cooperative welcome visitors from near and far to share their unique culture through cooking demonstrations, dances and music. Serving locals and visitors from around the world since 1986, Sandy Beach Cooperative recently and proudly re-opened in November 2012, after the resort was devastated by fires in 2003 and 2005.Steps from the Caribbean shore, Sandy Beach Cooperative also offers catering services and an idyllic seaside location for events and relaxation. By day, customers are welcome to sit on the veranda to enjoy the landscape in shade of breezy coconut trees to the tune of waves while indoors, local community organizations or visiting groups may rent the space for conferences and private meetings. Under the stars, cultural events, local celebrations, dancing and drumming performances charm the atmosphere (such special occasions are available by reservation).
