About

Madwoman's Haven Restaurant In a far away time, when Ubatuba was just a small fishing village... Newlyweds Maria Rosa and Joao Timoteo arrived in Itagua Beach. They built their ranch, the place where they lived their passionate love by the lapping ocean, and earned their living as fishermen. Every day Joao faced the ocean in a search for the most precious fish. At the end of the day, Maria Rosa anxiously waited for his return by the open fire, where she would prepare the fruit of his work for the delight of the whole village. Her cuisine was incomparably divine. And those nights had a happy warm idyllic feeling by the rise of the full moon. At the end of one given day, the weather terrifyingly changed, bringing lightning, thunder and angry waves. Maria Rosa waited and waited as usually... But Joao never ever returned. So she started to run along the shore line screaming for him: Joao, Joao, come back home! It happened night after night. She ran along the beach calling for her beloved, waiting for the fish, prawns and mussels that the fishermen would to bring. And she was seen at dawn running back to her hut, where she hid away for the entire day, preparing her wild dishes. And by the moon rise, she would take the most exquisite dish to the ocean, prepared with love and passion in a search for Joao Timoteo, the lover she would never stop yearning for. The ranch was named Madwoman's Haven. At this very place she lived, feeding herself from the ocean, her exposed body barely covered by tatters. Then, on a beautiful starry night, the ocean was clear and serene as a polished mirror. No fisherman saw Maria Rosa running and screaming along the beach: her soul took off on a journey to meet up with Joao Timoteo. Ubatuba grew into a modern city. However, a world of mystery and mysticism still surrounds its beautiful beaches. And in Itagua, when the full moon strays along the horizon, shimmering its light all over the peaceful ocean, the shadow of a woman still runs alongside a desert beach... Cesar Gallico
