Great Steak Sandwich! I love places that use a Rib Eye for their steak sandwiches, so juicy. Also love the dry ribs as a starter….so good. The only reason I can’t give this place a 5 is that the prices are a little high, even for a steak this good. Will be back.
The food was not bad, but was not great. Service was a bit surly for the price. Our glasses were not refilled before being emptied and the bread was not refilled. I would go elsewhere next time.
The steaks were excellent. The prawns and desserts were very good. Sides were fine, nothing special but nothing wrong with them. Service was extremely fast. We got there at 7pm on a Saturday and left by 8, after having drinks, appetizers, mains, and desserts. I would have preferred to have a little more time to relax in between each course but I understand they need to rush to turn tables. My only real criticism is that they put orange pop in an Old Fashioned. Normally I’m all for places updating cocktails but I think that one should just be renamed instead of trying to pass it off as an Old Fashioned.
We usually come here for both my birthday and my mom’s because we love it so much. The chateaubriand is like butter, just melts in your mouth, and the array of vegetables it comes with is excellent. I tend to get the Wellington just because I love the flaky puff pastry. The service is always great here and we really enjoy when we get to come here.
Went here tonight to celebrate my birthday with my other half and made reservations of course. The outside of the restaurant isn’t much and parking was packed, restaurant was in this strip mall. The inside decor is out of date but the service right when you get into the restaurant is superb! They have curtesy coat check which is pretty common for fine dining. We sat in the dining area and you can see the chef cook steak over a grill behind a glass, which is cool We ordered jumbo prawns, and their special of the night, crab cakes. And holy moly!!!! The crab cakes were to die for! Perfectly soft inside and so much crab. Then of course I ordered the beef Wellington with a regular baked potato. Keeping in mind I’ve only ever had beef Wellington once before at another restaurant in Calgary. This one was cooked to perfection at med rare. They also dress the potato at the table, and you have the options of sour cream, bacon bits, green onions, and butter. It was a nice custom touch. The side veggies of carrots and broccolini where meh. My partner ordered the steak Neptune which was a filet mignon with crab and hollandaise. We shared, obviously, and I thought it was pretty damn delicious (though I still preferred my Wellington). Finished off with a mud pie for dessert which was Really yummy.Service was awesome, water and coffee was always refilled. The gentleman we got, checked up on us regularly. The manager (I believe) even came by to ask how everything was. I only gave a 4.5 due to the decor and lighting… Yes lighting! It’s so dark in there, couldn’t take a quality photo using no flash haha what can I say? I’m a foodie. And decor is pretty dated. Food was fantastic.
It was my first time at Wellingtons, and incidentally my first time trying a beef wellington as well. I’m not quite sure what the standards are for an exceptional wellington, but my bar has been set high by my experience at this restaurant. With a traditional fine dining atmosphere and friendly staff, Wellingtons is a great option for an intimate dinner. The appetizers were quite good, and the main was phenomenally prepared. With a light, crispy puff pastry envelop in a tender filet mignon, Wellingtons has created the perfect marriage of taste and texture. The sauce that accompanies it pairs nicely with both the wellington, and anything else on your plate really. Definitely coming back!
Something was wrong with the Beef Wellington. The meat tasked like it was smothered in liver pate and wrapped in pastry. Mr. Gordon Ramsay would have dropped a few F-bombs and tossed the dish on the floor.
