Nice atmosphere and cute decorations and cups/dishes. Had the 5 course tasting menu and 4 of the 5 dishes were pretty plain. Overall I thought it was way overpriced.
I was here for dinner on a Saturday. I had the $40 three course set menu, which included a pork terrine, thyme gnocchi, and parsnip cake for dinner. My partner had a rye pappardelle, and we mostly shared my three course meal as well. The pork terrine was pretty good. I especially liked the strong flavour of the alfalfa sprouts. The thyme gnocchi, which contained salted cod, was also very good, but it is definitely a taste that not everyone may appreciate. I expected the parsnip cake to be like a carrot cake, but it turned out to be very dense and had no parsnip flavour and the mascarpone sauce didn’t really taste like anything. The rye pappardelle was also very disappointing. The sauce was flavourless, and the only parts with flavour were the parts with goat cheese in it. There was only 2 pieces of shrimp in it and it had a weird mushy texture (melts in your mouth, literally). The ambiance was nice in the restaurant and the service was great too. I would come back to try the afternoon tea and lunch, but dinner was a little overpriced for me.
We went to Hayloft for my husband’s birthday dinner. My husband had been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile – we were not disappointed. Our food was delicious! We were impressed with how the meat and many other ingredients are locally sourced. My husband had the beef short rib and he said it was cooked to perfection! I had the fish and chips – which were amazing! The service was great and we loved the atmosphere.
Came to Hayloft for engagement dinner last week and had the crab Gnocchi, I have to say I’ve been dreaming about it ever since! Soft, dough dumplings and super flavourful. Love the atmosphere and the server was very knowledgable and gave us great recommendations for our meal. Can’t wait to come back!!
I was really looking forward to going here, but I’m sad to say this place was quite a disappointment. The decor is beautiful and the service was fine but a lot of the food just fell flat. The Gnocchi and Bean Dip were good starters, but just good. Apparently the fish and chips were amazing which really made me wish I ordered that instead of the Chicken Pot Pie which was hollow, super watery and salty, and only had, other than some chicken, 1 potato, 1 carrot and 1 turnip. My boyfriend had the brisket and although the meat was cooked fine, the sauce was again, super salty. Dessert wasn’t anything spectacular either. The Apple dessert was fine, but the Pavlova was rock hard and almost inedible. Needless to say I left underwhelmed and don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon.
Food and service were wonderful!! I had the mussels to start and the gnocchi for my main. The gnocchi was PERFECT! It was super rich and dense so a small portion was perfect. It was a great little place to go on a date. I will definitely return!
Ordered the lamb, it was raw and all fat. Ordered the Bison ravioli, it was hard (not al dente), an amazing beet salad. Nice place, good service just not pleased with the food.
