Not bad, the sushi was a little undercooked (rice lacked the firmness to hold together), the service and staff are excellent. It’s just the food that left more to be desired. Good in a pinch however.
My sister and I went to Mio last night for the first time. I am NOT a regarding sushi eater so I cannot comment on the quality of the sushi. I ordered Spicy Chicken Udon soup. We shared an order of Spicy beef rolls. My sister had calamari, tuna and salmon. We both had tea and we shared a Japanese cheesecake. The soup was the perfect sized serving for someone who also wants a roll with their dinner. It was definitely spicy (as I was hoping for). The chicken was perfect. The spicy beef rolls were just OK. Exactly what they were described as, but could take it or leave it.My sister thoroughly enjoyed the calamari. I tried a pice and thought it was decent, though I am not a seafood person. The batter is light and not seasoned. Having never had Japanese cheesecake before, I wanted to try it out. Pretty good! Kind of like an angel food cake and a new York cheesecake mated.
Nice little sushi place in Airdrie. When we go to cross iron I try and go to airdrie to try some restaurants as well. My gf told me about this sushi place and how they have the stone grill. Decided to come after shopping noting that they close at 9:30pm on a weekday. I’ve been here once before and had the same friendly waiter. Service is pretty decent, drinks are always refilled. I noticed the daily food specials. Wednesday is $1.50 salmon sushi. Salmon is decent and the sashimi is good sized. The pork bun is a trend in the city it seems so decided to give it a try. It comes on naan bread with some pretty flavourful sauce and good sized sliced pork topped with some fresh greens. The stone grill (no picture here) is just a hot stone with garlic butter and raw lamb, beef, prawns and scallop to cook on there. Comes with 3 types of dipping sauce. The scallops is 1 scallop chopped in 3 pcs. For $27.00 it’s alright I suppose since it comes with soup, salad and rice. Overall everything was decent. Not bad or outstandingly delicious. Would potentially come back and try the other cooked items on the menu.
Best sashimi not only in airdrie but all of calgary. Food is always fresh and plated beautifully. Can’t deny the quality they set the standard for best sushi.
Stopped by here on our way to Banff for a long weekend of fishing. Very impressed with the taste and presentation of the food! The salmon tataki and the Finding Nemo roll were standouts, but there was no part of our meal tonight that was disappointing in any way. We are already looking forward to the next time we stop in Airdrie for a bite to eat
Very fresh sushi, drove here a few times from calgary, really liked the dessert they had with a whip cream and a graham like cake mixture. Very friendly staff and quick service
