Delicious and Homey. I have been going for the last decade and the food is still as delicious as ever. Even though a lot of people are bashing on the new location, it doesn’t mean the food has changed! The ginger beef, curry beef rice, wonton soup. The prices are cheap and there are large portions! The few Chinese woman who serve are always SUPER nice and have great customer service. Say hi to them for me if you see them!

Was great when it was just off Whyte Ave but has gone downhill since the move. Too bad, I used to love going there late at night for good Chinese munchies. Food is still good but prices have gone up.

Let’s cut the hate and the stereotype for just ONE second.. Trust me, it was real hard for me to step into this place. I’ve been afraid to do so since they moved locations. But I heard they recently renovated and I felt adventurous and brave enough to debunk myths. So I entered.Things weren’t that bad! It’s like entering into a haunted house and there was nothing to it. The food prices went up from $6 a dish to $9.50 but that’s just inflation since 1998 right? What’s cool about this place is that things tasted as good/bad as it did 15 years ago! (Similar to Double Greetings). If you like to eat in a time machine kind of fashion, this place cannot evoke enough memories of what you were 15 years ago!The food quality is same as Double Greetings (which is immensely popular). But in all seriousness, stick to Tai Pan, Good Buddy’s, Cafe De Tropika, Garden Bakery… the prices are becoming awfully similar to one another and for this reason I cannot recommend Sam Wok. I mean, it’s great if you want some late night eats and you want to party like it’s 1995, but other than that, why? Just why?!

Can’t stop coming back to this place excellent hot and sour soup amazing salt-and-pepper squid. All the taste of the Hong Kong area and Cantonese food that I love. When I eat here with the guys they absolutely love the beef curry and ginger beef. I would bet any dish that you order will come out delicious. Moved to Edmonton from Lethbridge in June and this is the only authentic fresh tasting Chinese food that I have been able to find in the city so far.

Used to go there a lot. This place used to have two things going for it – 1) open late 2)cheap. those were the only two reasons i went there (this was when it was just off whyte ave, at their old location). it was my go to restaraunt when it was 1am and i was getting the munchies. then they moved locations, raised the prices, and closed at 11pm. nothing special about the food unfortuantely… i can get much better chinese food at other places, and since they raised their prices and are not open late, i wont be going there anymore. plus, i think the quality of their food has gone downhill. the service isn’t great, but thats to be expected at an asain restaraunt like this.

Visting Sam Wok was a fluke. I was’nt too sure what to expect of it since its exterior is’nt all too inviting (being on a very busy street and rough appearance), but it was very good considering its condition. I have only been there a few times and every time seemed to be very pleasing. One day…I had ordered a mushroom and vegetable noodle soup and what do I find? A FLY in my bowl. Not to mention the satay beef chow pan was absolutley disgusting and tasted similar to dirt. After this my opintion of them has gone down. I do understand sometimes little critters make their way into any resturant, but it is still unsettling. Aside from this, I have to admit their wonton soup is probably the best wonton soup I have had because they hide a little shrimp in their wontons!

Awesomely Terrible. I love this place, but there’s no way I’d go there if it wasn’t 2am and I was sober.
