Watched the fight….. Last night was there with friends watching the fight. Although it was PACKED….I mean there was literally a line around the building, the service was good. I was surprised by how good the burgers were too. Not expecting that. Nachos were tasty too. The building IS run down, and strais to bathrooms are creepy, but for what it is….a good experience overall.
So… My bf and I booked the golf simulator a whole week ago. We get there tonight and apparently there’s a ‘double booking’ but when we called, that wasn’t the case. There was a crowd of probably 10 individuals. We left our appointment to meet this 8 o’clock appointment but what happens when we get to Schanks? There’s been a double booking. Sh*t food, no value of costumers, terrible reputation and it’s all true. Please do something about your management. I personally feel they fed us that bs of a double booking because they would make more money on a crowd of 10 than just the both of us. Terrible customer service. Never returning to that pub/bar whatever they call themselves ever again.
Anytime Schanks. It would help if the waitresses smiled once in a while, and acted like they actually wanted you there. I suspect they’re unhappy because of management. One waitress I really like, is Melanie.She’s very nice and friendly, and I always try to sit in her section. It would help if Schanks advertised that they were having draws, or specials for game day, like today?
Possibly the worst service in all of Calgary. Every couple of weeks I travel to Schanks in the NW to place a few bets on their live horse racing. I have lived in Calgary for nearly 20 years and can’t think of *any* service (let alone a restaurant) with worse customer service than Schanks NW. Other reviews are not exaggerating. The staff appear as if they should be admitted to a detox centre and simply do not care if you are served. Many times I have walked half way across the large building to approach a waitress sitting on the end of the bar talking to the bartender. Their expressions were in near disgust that I would interrupt their discussion. If you are looking for pub fare without a bowling alley, driving range or horse racing, I would completely avoid Schanks NW. Unfortunately, Schanks is committed to only hiring baked-out losers for its staff. I defy anyone to suggest a restaurant/pub/bar in Calgary with worse service than Schanks.

Shanks nw is a joke, who runs this place?. Shanks is not bad during the Day but at night the service is horrible as from what I can tell, the staff is either on drugs and/or drinking. On my way to work in the morning I’ve seen the staff just leaving lol. cocains a hell of a drug! So maybe it’s a good party spot but service sucks and its not a place for kids.
Great Spot. Came across some negative reviews for Schanks North and felt compelled to share my 2 cents as a long-time (years) customer. We started coming here so that my husband could watch all of the sporting events that he wanted and I could play NTN Trivia of which I am a BIG FAN. It is a large venue, with lots of different areas, my favourite being the area with the old style table and chairs versus the pub style (high tables and chairs) which I don’t care for. Most times our drinks are brought to our table without being asked – can’t ask for better service than that! Someone commented that glasses/plates don’t get cleared away fast enough, I have never had an issue with this and have found the bus staff to be quite diligent in their duties. We have tried many of the menu items – pizza, burgers, steak, wings to name a few and for the most part all are good. Not saying that if you want a nice steak dinner you should come here, but if you want to come here to watch a sports game or play NTN and are in the mood for a steak it is pretty decent. My choice of drink is white wine and I find their house chardonnay to be pretty good. Back to the menu for a second, they used to have my favourite appetizer – Potato Skins – so management if you are reading this, I would love if they were brought back.
