Sophia, the hostess, was great but everything else went downhill after that. They brought the wrong salad, an the the WRONG main course again. Pizza was disgusting, pasta was bad. I ate at all the hotel restaurants that wknd and all were great but this one. I would never go back there and suggest you stay away too
High price for high quality.. First of all i would like to state a fact, yes this is a pricey restaurant but then if you’re in Banff, unless you were planning on dining at the Spaghetti Factory or a fastfood joint for that matter YOU ARE going to have to pay premium for a resort town. You’re on vacation! Relax!I’ve been there a couple times. Both times the food was excellent, i didn’t care for the service that much, i felt like they were too attentive that it was creepy at times. Now the food. The bruschetta was unreal. Yes again it was $7 apiece basically but worth every penny. Entrees were fresh and delicious as well. The flavours were just waiting to burst out like a volcano, yet not too strong to leave a bad aftertaste for you so you can be ready for your next bite.Desserts to be honest were only okay, given its price. It could well be great on its own right but after the appetizers and entrees we shared i didn’t quite have the room for it.We didn’t ordered any alcohol, and we both had pasta for entrees instead of protein items, and my bill came to $200 without tip. So be willing to pay and be aware of the prices before you go in. This is, after all, the Banff Springs.
Good but pricey. The server brought some bread with roasted garlic as spread before serving what we ordered. It was a nice start with 3 different types of bread. Shared with a friend Carpaccio and mussels for appetizers. Both were very good. Had the eggplant parmesan as main and that was good. Service was good and attentive from start to finish. No one ordered any drink, desserts or tea/coffee, and the bill came out to $50 each before tips. I thought it was good food, but it’s pricey for what it is. It is definitely tailored for the more wealthy who care to stay at the Banff Springs Hotel.
Disappointing Dinner. For dinner I had the Veal Tenderloin Saltimbocca and to summarize my experience in as little words as possible… meh. I was with colleagues on business and it was relatively pricey. I won’t say it was bad, but just not particularly memorable. The portion sizes were fair, filling and the service was prompt. I think my experience isn’t very representative of their usual quality. Perhaps it was just an off-night.
A bit overpriced but overall great experience.
I’ve eaten at Castello a number of times, and the food bursts with flavout, not salt. It takes a bold chef to dare to prepare food with an acceptable salt level, rather than dumping in on in a desperate attempt to produce some flavour. I nibble my food to savour it.
Seafood Tagliatelle is unreal!!!
