Restaurant on second floor of Banff Park Lodge. Sunday buffet is a good spread, complete with chocolate fountain and other novelties. Wish it opened before 10am, though.
Godawful slop.. Ate breakfast at the Chinook Family Restaurant today. Biggest mistake of my life. I ordered eggs and sausage (for 16 freaking dollars?!?) and my fried eggs were a disaster of overcooked nonsense. The sausage was generic. The toast had the thinnest layer of butter ever spread onto bread (Guinness came to verify). The fried potatoes were also nonsense. My wife’s food was even worse (somehow). Eggs Benedict with asparagus that were also overdone. Pure crap. Never eat there, and discount any reviews that aren’t hot takes. This place is both poo and pee.
Good was awesome! Service was great. Couldn’t get enough of the crab legs and omelette station!
I’ve had the Sunday brunch a number of times and have yet to be disappointed in both food and service. On a recent stay in banff, I stayed at the lodge and decided to try the breakfast buffet, but it’s not nearly as good as on Sundays. The pancakes looked and tasted awful. The eggs and selection of pork proteins were decent, but the hash browns were cold and hard. Not worth $20. Service was lacking…no coffee refills or can I get you anything. Next time I’ll try Melissa’s across the street during the week and stick to Sundays for the brunch buffet.
Breakfast is OK. We have had the breakfast buffet twice at the Chinook — one of those times being today. The quality and variety of the food is OK, but I find the coffee intolerable. It tastes burnt and this is coming from someone who likes dark, strong coffee!
Very good Sunday brunch. With lower pricing ($25 for adults and free for kids under 5), relaxed atmosphere, close parking, no line up and down to earth service this is a very good alternative for families compared to the Fairmont’s Bow Valley brunch. Excellent selection of fresh cold and hot foods. Highlights for us were the snow crab legs, smoked salmon, grilled snapper, and the chocolate fountain!Very happy we decided to try this place!
