Great food, ugly building. Decided to try this place out with my girlfriend during Bon Apetit Banff because we really liked what was on the special menu. I have to say, we almost turned around and didn’t go in when we got to the place. It is located in the Voyager Inn, which is on the quieter side of Banff Avenue and looking a little dingy from the outside. A highly visible liquor store right beside the restaurant makes it look even more sketchy. However, we were really glad we went in. We were the only two people in the place the whole evening; we chatted with the waiter, he said the restaurant is only a couple of months old, and management is trying to build it up. On the down side, they only had 2 wines on the menu (waiter said they are working on that). On the plus side, food was fantastic. Between the two of us, we had 2 appys (Buffalo Barley soup- had a really nice smokey flavour- and a spinach salad) 2 entrees (Elk meatloaf – tender and tasty – and a Chicken Mushroom pasta – again, a nice smokey flavor) and 2desserts (chocolate Pecan pie and Peach Melba – both super tasty)…we both enoyed everything.In summary, don’t let the appearance scare you off. Prices were totally reasonable, especially for Banff, and the food was great.
