Drinks and lunch at St James Gate while watching the football game. Caesars and beer for the table. After the game was in full swing, burgers and turkey n Brie sandwiches for the table. Burger is bacon, cheese, and an onion ring on a regular burger bun served with fries in a basket. Turkey and Brie sandwich with apple and lettuce on rather stale sour dough bread. Salad served with the turkey and Brie sandwich is huge. Great service throughout our stay.
Came in for brunch and a beer. its a quaint place, most Irish pubs are. We settled in a had a look at the menu and decided we needed something substantial. we came to the right spot. Bangers and mash and a bison burger with starter salads(it offsets anything unhealthy) They came out quick and they were both big enough to feed a horse. Exactly what we needed, some gravy and starch witha healthy sized portion of meat.Granted this isn’t a fine dinning establishment so I’m not gunna say its the best bangers and mash I’ve ever had or talk about the life altering events that took place here. It’s good food, the waitress was really nice, the beer was cold and I left full like I intended to. Nothing wrong with that. In fact we came back the next dayto havesome mussels for second lunch. its a thing.Either way, its a good atmosphere and the food is that of a good Irish pub. so if you wanna mingle with the day drinkers and don’t expect a meal they’d cook at Guy Savoy’s place then look no further.
The dcor here is very nice, we were told by one of the staff that work there, that it was actually transported from Ireland and that it is all original structure which is very cool. I got the chicken pot pie. The salad on the side was nice. The chicken pot pie was decent, the inside filling was a bit runny for my liking and was too sweet so ended up adding pepper to try and counteract that. Had a decent time and the food is fairly priced.
Really nice spot. We had the pie and the steak and thought both were really tasty and great value. Staff were friendly, quick and knowledgeable and the pub had a nice atmosphere. Two thumbs up.
We’ve been here a few times now and the food is always decent. Every time except once the service has been great. If you’re in the mood for some live tunes and good food, head down here on the weekend. They also have an extensive drinks list.
One of my fav stops in Banff.Great service and atmosphere. They also have live music. The food is what you would expect for pub food. Good comfort food and drinks. The nachos are really good. Maybe ask for extra cheese on them. We didn’t like the poutine on the menu.
Sooo bad we couldn’t believe it. Ordered the bison burger and could not cut through the patty it was so burned/dry/cold. Never mind that it took over an hour to get our food. This place has so much potential with a great atmosphere and the server was lovely too.
