Great atmosphere, superior service and amazing food. My girlfriend and I had the beef tenderloin with whipped potatoes garnished with blueberries. The presentation was amazing, and the food was exquisite. Would recommend to any diner looking for a high priced but high quality meal.

Anniversary Dinner. We came here for our anniversary dinner. I scoped it out because many places in Banff are overpriced and overrated. We were so happy we came. Sure it was a bit expensive but in my mind it’s a steal compared to some of the other fine dining options in Banff. We also chose some of the more pricey menu options, including the Tenderloin and King Salmon. Both were absolutely suited to us. My date was addicted to the dark, rich sauce that came with her steak, and I really enjoyed the unique sweet horseradish crust on my salmon (though potent, it was very much up my alley). The service was great as well and we left very satisfied. Next time I will try the tasting menu, which was what caught my eye at first; a five course meal with wine pairings that is much less than at the other restaurants in town.

Wonderful Dining Experience. We made a reservation here after some research. We were on a mini break vacation and wanted to have a nice dinner. Our server was Fantin, she really took care of us. Our reservation was for 6pm, we arrived on time. The Terrace is just off of the lobby of the hotel, the dining room is at the back and you have to walk through the lounge to get to it. We were seated at a table by the window, the dining room looks like you are sitting in a sun room. There isn’t too much of a view, there is a bit of mountain but generally, you’re looking into a back alley and someone’s backyard. The restaurant was not very busy when we had arrived with only one other table there. As the evening progressed, a few more tables trickled in. A family with a young child had come in and our server looked around the room to note where to seat the family and chose to seat them off to the corner furthest away from the tables for two with a more romantic dinner. This was very good as the child was quite fussy most of the night.I ordered the five course tasting menu with wine pairings ($54 for food and $26 for wine). The courses were Artic Char, Quail, Blackberry Granite, Duo of Lamb, and Molten Chocolate Cake. My dining partner ordered off the menu so that we could try as many different dishes as possible. He had the Orange Digby Scallops, Escargot Vol-au-vent and the Elk Medallions. Our server paced his meal to match mine and for the palate cleansing blackberry granite course of my meal, she brought him one as well on the house. This was completely unexpected and a very nice surprise. I felt that all the dishes were beautifully prepared and very tasty. Of the five of my courses, the quail was my favourite and I was sad there was not more of it. Of my dining partner’s dishes, the elk medallions were my favourite. Two decent sized medallions (my partner said they were about 6ozs total) served with a chocolate madeira sauce and coffee infused mashed potatoes and veggies. I know, I know, coffee infused mashed potatoes!?!?! I thought it was slightly odd too but they were quite tasty. Overall, we had a terrific dinner here. I thought for a special treat, the value was there. I felt that the restaurant could be for a romantic dinner if the place is not very busy but if the place is completely packed, it would be a lot less romantic. The service was excellent and the food was quite good and perfectly cooked. rowingtonlovesfood.wordpress.com

My favourite in Banff!!. I enjoyed yet another dinner here over the Thanksgiving long weekend with some friends. We all shared our entrees so we could each have a taste! We started with the seared scallops, terrace salad, and escargots. All perfectly prepared and a great portion size. The terrace salad was the biggest surprise…pickled mushrooms with double smoked bacon. Who knew!?!?Moving onto mains we ordered the elk medallions; the coffee mashed potatoes were tasty and the medallions were cooked to perfection. Lamb shoulder; very tender and flavourful. Veal tenderloin; definite winner of the night! This dish was so tender and so full of flavour! Paired off with a couple bottles of wine selected for us and a few specialty cocktails in the lounge to start made for a very enjoyable evening. I have yet to be disappointed with the quality of food or service I receive when eating here.

Overall this place was great. I had high expectation based on the price of food and I think it just need to fine tune a few things to be at par with their prices. The service was good but we had to many people serving us and too often they came by interrupting our conversation. The food was well plated, interesting and delicious but usually one thing on each plate was over or under seasoned or dressed. The music was awful and there is no view. Other than the view, these things can change, so I would likely try this place again when in banff.

Nice fine dining.. Our meal at the Terrace was mainly tempered by the excellent service we received. Our server was attentive, but never in our face; she was always ready when we needed, and willing to go out of her way to answer some obscure questions. She really made our night.Of course, we had the night mostly to ourselves. We arrived at 9 pm on a Monday, and were the only ones in the dining room for most of the night. The lounge was nearby, producing a pleasant background of talking without overpowering our conversation, so we never felt too isolated. Another couple came in much later (I was jealous, their dinner was on fire!) but that was about it.We were very tempted by the reasonably priced three- and four-course menus, but were turned off by their uninteresting entree options. We finally settled on an escargot en croute and a baked brie as our starters. The escargot was the lowest point of the night; it was good but unexciting. The brie was very nice. For entrees we had the elk and the duck; both were delicious, although I felt the duck could have used a veggie side (I coveted my wife’s endive deeply. She did not share much). We also felt they had a little too much sauce: the meats were great, and the sauces implied to us that the kitchen felt they couldn’t stand on their own.The dessert selection was impressive, and we had a tough time choosing. We finally settled for the flourless chocolate cake (Chocolate Marquise) and two Banff Coffees. This was possibly the high point of the meal.Overall, we found the Terrace good for its price point: it is at the more pocket-friendly end of fine dining, and it handles this well. We really enjoyed our evening.
