I am giving the Waldhaus such a high rating because of their patio. It is just a fantastic spot. The seating is very comfortable and the tables well spaced. The view is spectacular with the mountains in the background and the golf course right below. I do have a couple negatives… the service is really slow. I think they are poorly staffed. The servers act as host while serving and cleaning tables. They are spread too thin and the guests are the ones that suffer. My wife and I shared a plate of nachos while sipping schooners of imported German beer. All very tasty. I will visit again the next time I am in Banff. Weather permitting of course.

Fine dining above a sports pub that’s a lot more of a dive bar than you’d expect at such a classy hotel. A short walk behind the hotel, a nice secluded spot for romantic dinner and events. Food and service to be expected of a fine hotel. Good stuff, but still hotel food.

Jackson is easily the best bartender in banff! His cocktails always taste amazing and sitting at the bar just chatting away is so wonderful. I have tried almost everything off the menu in the pub and have never been disappointed. The hunters poutine is the perfect hangover cure!!

Best to the 80’s. The decor is dated big time. So is the menu, super boring. For how much you pay for the fancy beers if would be nice if you could get a chilled beer mug. Schitzill was dry. For such a landmark location it was really disappointing. Seriously I felt like I was at the Brooks Bar in 1985, and that ain’t a compliment. The Bear Street tavern was way better.

This is the second time Child and I have been here-first time was celebrating her 18th and her nana’s 78th birthdays. This time we brought Husband on our way home from Radium (thought we could make it to Calgary- we were wrong). We started with some lovely German beers-very cold in very nice sleeves- and truffle cheese fondue with bread and vegetables. As we all felt we were starving we all ordered entrees as well, Husband the burger, Child the bratwurst and me the portobello mushroom sandwich. Everything was brought out quickly, was hot and looked very appetizing. Caesar salad side was deconstructed an although different from traditional good flavour with crisp lettuce. Chips served on the burger side were hot and not too greasy and perfect with a little vinegar and ketchup. Each of our meals were good-pretzel bun and sauerkraut with the bratwurst were a perfect match, my burger had great flavour with the roasted red pepper and eggplant, but as very hard to eat on the ciabatta so the bun was tossed and I just ate the innards. Husband’s burger was demolished quickly, and we continued our drive to Calgary completely satiated. The service was quick and very good, we will definitely be back again, maybe check out upstairs next time.

Agree about false advertising. Showed up for Wing Wednesday in June and after ordering discovered it was not available in the summer. Server asked if I saw any signs anywhere they had forgot to take down, and told him it was clearly stated on the internet that every Wednesday would be it. Never offered to match the deal sadly. The food and beer were good, though very very salty. Atmosphere was definitely lacking for a Banff Springs property, Won’t be going back.
