Weve been spoiled on both campuses with more and more options for food choices. A gem hidden as fast food, filistix hammers out rice bowls that make long unbearable study sessions at school somewhat tolerable. They pride themselves on sticking with fresh and locally sourced ingredients while consistently keeping their classic dishes delicious. This mobile kitchen is always up to date with their social media game as to keep up with their crowd. They have three bowls I believe that are always on menu while switching up their features of the week. Located on the lower level of CAB, the hefty line up is my excuse for only recently visiting.THE CLASSIC – We got a full order ($13.50) Chicken Adobo 5/5, Came with 2 thighs smothered with the savory adobo sauce with an accompaniment of their signature slaw. The chicken tasted great, nice and juicy and the flavor of the sauce was thick mixing perfectly like gravy on rice. Was a very savory and filling meal.Teriyaki chicken – Half order ($9.50) 5/5, Chicken skin had a great caramelized layer. Their execution on both sauces were really great. This sauce was obviously a lot lighter than the adobo sauce but was very strong in flavor. The slaw that came with both bowls, was shredded cabbage with a sesame-soy-balsamic vinaigrette. I liked that it wasnt drenched with the vinaigrette and with it being served beside the rice and your chicken, mixing it with your choice of sauce gave it a nice fresh cut with every bite.Price wise; 4 dollars more for a full order – Id go with the full order to get a better deal. The asian in me is thinking 9 dollars for one chicken thigh is ridiculous. They cook each dish by order, but surprisingly the wait wasn’t too bad. We only waited around 7 minutes after placing our order in.I recommend! Will be back for The Classic again!
Fairy good on-campus food truck.Their food quality is generally great, so does the idea of rotating menu on a weekly basis. They always have fresh salad and spicy chili oil, which means nutrition balance and guaranteed tastes to me.Unfortunately they raised prices recently and have been providing chicken meals too frequently, that is why I cannot give it a higher score.
Mediocrity for $12.. First few times were okay at best. I would alternate between South Pacific and their Vegetarian options for lunch at work. Rice is poorly made. I didn’t even know I could have standards for rice, but I do now after eating the driest rice ever. I don’t even understand the salad/coleslaw. I have never eaten this as a Filipino. It is gross to me.
