I ordered the Falafel from here. Not really impressed… The veggies and sauce were great, and the pita was nice and warm, but the chickpeas had a texture like sand. It was really hard to eat with the constant grinding in my teeth. I’d be interested to try their donairs and poutine, because it was just the chick peas that kind of ruined it for me.
Seems like this place hasn’t been reviewed in a while, but as a student of the U of A and a donair-lover, I’d like to point out that there are better options in Edmonton. The meat is cut into big, thick chunks, which I’m not a huge fan of. I know a junky, low-key donair joint by the west end of Edmonton that does a fantastic donair with perfectly palatable, well-portioned meat slices, and the effect it has on the enjoyability of your donair experience is SIGNIFICANT. Otherwise, the sweet sauce that Marco uses is decent, the cheese is always a generous helping, the pita warmed up, soft, and if you’re lucky, crispy on some edges. The size of the meat leaves a heavy feeling in my stomach post-meal and I think it could be better seasoned. It’s not worth the $7+ (yes, there has been a hike in prices … Regular Cheese is now $7, Super starts at $8.25, Jumbo at $9.50).They also have the infamous Wildcat and Tombstone donairs. The Wildcat is a Jumbo Cheese with 2x extra cheese and no veggies whatsoever. I don’t like veggies in my donair, so I tried it today and although it was initially good, the amount and sizes of the meat chunks were just difficult to get down after about halfway. I’ve also had the Tombstone, and it’s basically a poutine stuffed inside of a Wildcat. Despite its notoriety for being a challenge, I didn’t find the serving all too hard to take in one sitting. However, it was VERY messy, and the flavour was not exactly striking or remarkable in any way. Marco’s donairs are decent, but the only money I would probably spend here in the future is for their donair poutine.
Best donair ever and nicest staff
