Yum. I was on campus for my son’s convocation and we all went up to RATT after the ceremony. My son said that the menu was a simpler, less expensive summer version of their normally overpriced menu. I had the daily special, the Reuben, and it was delicious! Only $9.00 and it was chock full of sauerkraut and pastrami, and came with hot crisp fries. My husband and son had the Chicken Philly, which was a juicy chicken breast with swiss cheese and ranch dressing on a bun, served with hot fries too and also just $9.00!The service was pretty good, considering that there was just one server working the whole room. Good draft beer selection too. All in all, a great late lunch and a really great day.

SLOW. Only thing lazier than a union worker is a student’s union worker.
Student Pub. If you keep in mind this is a student pub, it’s quite good. Cheap beer, good views, mediocre food, like I said, a student pub.
Great view and OK service but that’s where it stops. I came in on a Saturday night around 7, it wasn’t busy so there should have been no problem with rushing the food or stressed out kitchen but the food was TERRIBLE! It’s been 10+ years since I’ve been unable to eat a burger but the meat was rubbery and smelled like dirty gym socks despite looking to be cooked properly. The beer OK but served only slightly below luke-warm temperature. Lastly, my friends BLT was better than my burger but only edible after removing the bacon which didn’t taste like bacon at all. All in all, The prices were acceptable but I’m very saddened to see this place go so much downhill since I was a student of the UofA here in 2005.
Decent pub grub, great view. Located on the 7th floor of the Students’ Union Building (SUB) at U of Alberta, this place has a fantastic view of campus and surrounding area. Much improved after a summer reno (gone is the smelly carpet and broken chairs), this place is a good stop for grilled cheese and fries, good burgers–including veggie burger–and some other decent sandwiches. Also has a full bar at decent prices. This is basic pub grub–nothing fancy, but that grill cheese can sure hit the spot.
Ratt is on the 7th floor of the student union building on the U of A campus. It’s usually pretty busy during school year, which results in having to wait a long time for food even if you can find a table. However, the decent food and great view from the 7th floor are worth the wait. They show all oilers games and give away 2 tickets to home games 30 mins before puck drop. Really cool place.
