I cant believe I havent written a review on Bridgette bar yet! Definitely one of my top three restaurants in Calgary for sure. I have yet to order anything I didnt like from here… even the avocado toast (I mean, who orders toast for dinner?) The beef carpaccio is unlike anywhere else. The rigatoni is so simple and I know truffle makes anything good but my god it is so good. The duck and the steak are also impressive even with the higher price tag. Service I find is a hit or miss but this is definitely one of those places you just keep coming back to for the food.
Good food and cocktail menu with a very reasonable price during the taste of Calgary. Would recommend a visit. Very nice location and would be great in the summer with the overhead doors open on the patio.
I love the decor of this place, open, industrial, modern and retro at the same time, mid- century modern. The menu has many choices to suit any diet.We had the grilled octopus which was great, the cheese curd bread. Followed by the pork chop and the ling cod.We will definitely go back. The one thing I would say regarding the service however is the male host was not welcoming at all…he did a number of errands before he even looked up to say, Ill be right with you , or just give me a minute Also our male waiter was crusty and seemed bothered by his job. Dropping food off and gone in a nano second, not bothering to see if you needed anything else. Straighten out the service glitches and this restaurant is really a keeper.
Good selection on the menu. The roasted duck here is amazing! Its not dry, but very juicy and flavorful. The wagyu beef carpaccio and roasted potatoes are awesome too. If you’re thinking what’s the big deal? They are just potatoes…then no, you are wrong. They are little nuggets of crispy flavorful goodness that is oh so simple but so creamy and SO good. You have to try for your yourself! It seems like they really have some good and unique flavor combinations. Some really simple too…think apples, mushrooms and carrots, but on a whole new level! Presentation is amazing as well. The only thing I would recommend though is that the drinks and dessert list needs to step it up. Not much selection and creativity for desserts!
One of the first things I noticed when walking into Bridgette Bar was its eclectic decor. It has a modern feel with artistic, vintage accents. The dining room is large with various types of seating – chairs, banquettes, and swivel chairs. The menu is designed for sharing, offering a thoughtful selection of Italian-inspired dishes and Middle Eastern flavours. The Shrimp and Corn Fusilli is incredibly bright and citrusy – a surprise for a pasta dish. The Roasted Half Duck is, indeed, a large plate and is prepared beautifully with seasonal plums. My dining partner commends the duck for its tenderness and crisp skin. One of my favourites is actually the Garlic Bread. As opposed to what you may imagine when you think of garlic bread, small pillows of dough and cheese curds are fried until golden and garnished with Parmesan. It tastes like an elevated version of fried cheese pizza, and I love it! My dining partner’s favourite dish is the Lamb Sausage. The sausage is made in-house and sits on top of a bed of labneh with a fried egg on top. The meat is flavourful and the creaminess of the labneh and egg yolk complement the lamb well. Overall, the service is great and the unique menu entices me to go back and try more.
Hey all. Finally back from my tour in Asia. We tried this restaurant on Sunday. This was my first experience at this restaurant so we had to try a couple items. We ordered the garlic bread, bibb lettuce, eggplant fries and beef strip steak. The garlic bread although unusual (looked like a deep fried poptart) tasted the best out of all these items (cheesy filling). All of the other items seemed okay but didnt really stand out in terms of flavors as they were a bit bland. Prices here are higher than average.
My friend and I ordered a bunch of dishes to get some variety. We got the eggplant fries, grilled octopus, and smoked half duck. The eggplant fries were great but not what we were expecting. The eggplant flavor could have been enhanced by first smoking (since we noticed it worked so well with the duck) or fire roasting before breading and frying. The grilled octopus came with a beautiful sauce that we couldn’t get enough of and a garnish of fennel that went well with the dish. It would have been perfect with something absorbent to soak up the flavor.Lastly the duck. It was coated in granola and served with peaches and greens. My friend said she has only had better duck in China (peking). I thought the peaches paired very nicely but would have liked to have seen a crispier skin on the duck to contrast a bit because the granola got a little too soft in the cooking process. The service was amazing and the staff were helpful with recommendations. I will definitely be back 🙂
