Highly not recommended place! Please dont waste your time and money here! Had a horrible experience when me n couple of friends went out to smoke for few minutes and bouncers refused our entry on basis of asking how many drinks we had. Although we didnt bother anyone and gentlemen with me behaved very politely to bouncers after being refused. We tried capturing the misbehavior from staff on camera but bouncers threatened us to harm and break our phones! Ultimately we understood they’re just making space for more people inside so kicking out guests who already paid the entry! All i need to know is if its right to refuse the entry of a current guest on basis of number of drinks? *Please dont have more than 1-2 drinks at commonwealth or else they have right to kick you out doesnt matter you cause any trouble or not*

We asked after 45 minutes how mich longer and were told that they had not seated any of the wait list and would not be. A full waste of time. They asked if we wanted to make reservations for the next one and then were told they were not taking them yet. Honestly do not waste your time.

Best club in town!. I am fairly new to Calgary, and have to say that this place is awesome. Calgary is pretty lack luster when it comes to night clubs. Most places in the city are void of culture, and full of meat heads. The whole look and vibe of the bar is awesome. It reminds me of a speak easy type of a place. The staff is always very accommodating and make you feel welcome. The crowd as a whole is a bit young, but besides that, I give this place a 10.
This place is the absolute WORST!!! Not only is it filled with 18 year old hood rats, their staff are the most horrendously rude people I’ve ever met in my life. I have never been treated so poorly. I attended a birthday party last night for a girlfriend. We went to dinner, and then had a guest list at this place. We were 8 attractive young women. We still had to wait in a line even though we had been put on the guestlist….Still had to pay EIGHT dollars cover each, and were treated like second class citizens by everyone we encountered during our short but painful experience here. Within seconds of walking in the door the birthday girl decided this was not her scene (her first time there), and wanted to go somewhere else. We, without being in the building for more than a minute, decided to leave. We asked for our money back, as we barely entered the building, and were incredibly rudely told that they DON’T do refunds. I’ve worked in the industry for many many years. And I know there’s exceptions to every rule. My very small mousy 110 pound girlfriend was even physically manhandled by one of their door staff for insisting someone hear her out and refund her money. Not only will I never, ever return to this excuse they call a bar, I’ll be sure to share my disgusting experience with everyone I know. We ended up at Black Betty and won’t think twice about going back. They treated us like queens, and the place was fantastic! Don’t waste your time or money at commonwealth. They don’t care about ANYTHING but your money.
Fantastic staff.. Commonwealth is my favourite place to go after work on a Friday. The food is so good (taquitos, and the wasabi salad are fantastic), and priced well. The front lounge area is intimate and gives a ‘man-cave’ kind of feel with the huge leather couches and wood coffee tables. The staff is what really makes this place so awesome though, the two bartenders at the front lounge seem to work Friday’s pretty regularly, and they are both incredibly attentive and welcoming. Even the front door staff are really great, they always remember our names and little things like opening the door and asking about your day makes me want to return. As for the line thing others have mentioned – this place does get hopping around 9:00pm. (I usually take off round 9 and I can see the line beginning to form). So I’d suggest getting there early!
Terrible!. Ive been there three times and haven’t even made it to the door. An hour and a half as a minimum waiting time.. I strongly suggest ppl to not even bother to come here.
