National on 1oth is a good spot to go with friends for some fun. We had booked a bowling night after dinner. Was a good night out. I always enjoy the tater tots. They are all about the same but the bowling makes this one a bit more of an outing.
Not impressed. Took forever to get a drink, fish and chips were gross could barely eat it. Our whole table left hungry cause of the quality of food. McDonald’s would have been better. Gave a 1.5 because the beer was good although they were out of alot of the beers on menu.
Came here on a Friday after work for Buck a Shuck. The fish and chips were an awesome deal ($11 on Fridays). The 2 pieces of fish were HUGE, but the fries were hard (not even crunchy, just hard). Oysters were good but took a long time to come out, and some of our oyster orders were forgotten. The music was way too loud, even for a bar, and the service was really really slow.
The only reason to go here is to go bowling. It’s not exactly Pro Bowling Association but it is kind of fun to get looped up on draft beer and oysters and start hucking balls around. You might even meet some new people who are just as wobbly as you. Just be careful after three pints that you don’t drop the ball on your foot or sideswipe somebody else’s lane.
Came in a few minutes before happy hour ended knowing what we wanted to order. Usually when we come, a waitress asks what we want to drink right away. But I guess since we came a few minutes before happy hour ended today, they decided to take their time. We watched the waitresses stand together watching their watches, and then at exactly 6pm one came to take our order and told us we missed happy hour. We stayed anyways and waited over 20 minutes for our food. I asked the waitress about it after and she told me it doesn’t matter if I show up before happy hour, if they decide to come take our order after happy hour, then we miss it. Nice.
I ordered the National Mac & Cheese and it was superb. If you’re planning to go on a diet, you might want to avoid this dish. It was super creamy and rich which obviously equates to deliciousness. Not to mention there were bacon bits that there sprinkled on top. The ambience was great and it was super busy around 5pm. The lighting was a bit dim so I avoided taking pictures all in all. Service was fine and the price was reasonable (~$14-15). oliveoiloilpaint.com
Three simple words : Buck A Shuck.I felt the need to mention that the buck a shuck here is phenomenal, and paired with their Caesars, well you can’t lose. The oysters were fresh, and the selection between east coast and west coast had me blow 75 bucks on oysters alone. The Caesar had immense seasoning on the rim with this smoky flavour, and a nice cube of cheese, pepperoni, and pickles had me try it once, twice, okay three times. I was tempted to try more on their menu, but need to do it another time when I am properly famished and prepared for the experience I am sure will be positive.
