We enjoyed our brunch here. Restaurant in a special historical house as well as a museum, its definitely a plus! My sandwich with ham and cheese inside, plus a slice of pear, quite a good mix! Benedict was not bad, either, just the side potato was too dry, guess was resting in the oven for too long and the portion is very small. Sandwich portion is also quite small, so if you are a big eater, probably you would have some complaints ๐ Saskatoon pie was a good choice! by the way, for restaurant guests you can enjoy 4 dollars ticket for visiting this house/museum, otherwise pay 8.5 dollars.
We came to the historic Lougheed mansion for brunch and it was fantastic!! Not only is this a gem in the heart of the city, but they also have gorgeous gardens and a gourmet restaurant going for them. Our service was impeccable and the brunch was delicious. We ordered the special steak and eggs, the Oscar Benedict, and Saskatoon berry pie! All perfection!!! The filet and eggs were cooked perfectly with a delicious side salad. The Benedict has crab meat in the sauce just so yummy ! I can’t wait to go back…and ps…I heard from the staff that it’s a haunted mansion
Mixed feelings…. We found the ambience of the Lougheed House to be very good, as it was so nice and quiet, yet located right in the middle of the noisy inner city. The white table cloth and flowers added to the comfortable feeling we had when we sat down to the table. The service was very good from start to finish. Where it falls short is in the menu itself. Although the sandwiches are tasty (accompanied by a nice fresh salad), the menu is very limited. The sandwiches, at $17 each, are also overpriced. Why not introduce some seafood, such a salmon burgers, etc.? How about some mashed sweet potatoes? There are so many great ideas for this place, yet they have really missed the mark. After spending so much time, effort and money to restore this historical landmark, the restaurant lacks choices. There were only 2 couples for lunch the day we were there (including us). Calgary is now chock full of many restaurants to choose from. My hope is that the Lougheed House Restaurant will quickly reinvent themselves and see what they are missing, before its too late.
10 for Atmosphere – 5 for Food. The Lougheed House is a beautifully maintained period Heritage Building/restaurant. The atmosphere is quite nice, and our server was friendly and attentive. The food, however, simply didn’t live up to expectations. Admittedly, it was the lunch menu and I am willing to concede that dinner may be a completely different experience. Nonetheless, we ate there for a birthday celebration lunch and I found the menu lacking in adequate vegetarian choices, and overpriced for the food presented.
Favourite Lunch Pick!!. My girlfriends and I headed to the lougheed house for our monthly lunch date and had a fabulous time. Between the super calm atmosphere and the amazing food we will definitely be back. Not to mention the service was the best I’ve have ever had, our server was very personable and helped make our first experience there perfect. oh and don’t forget to order dessert ๐
Won’t be back. I ate at the Lougheed House in August 2009 and it was so hot in the restaurant I felt as if I was suffocating. I had the lamb burger with salad and a chocolate raspberry brownie. Both were very average.
