Cute little Caribbean rum bar just off 17th ave. The atmosphere is pretty chill and the servers were really lovely and attentive. The jerk chicken was the show stopper. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy with a great texture. The daiquiris are not blended and arent disgustingly sweet, which was great! The Hemingway was my fave. Stop in for a little snack and a cocktail. Rums up!
Amazing drinks, great quality of food, nice atmosphere, and great service. I would highly recommend the Pia Colada and plantain chips. Great place to pre-drink or relax and sip on high quality drinks with friends or a first date – eat light but feel good after a drink or two.
I really like the vibe in here. It’s quaint, cozy, and personal. The music really relaxes you and you (should) feel at home. This time we ate the plantain chips which were excellent a thin, crispy and perfect with spicy ketchup. The empananadas are also really nice the crust is thin and crispy with fresh ingredients inside. Then the beef patties! Not the same as what you’ve probably had before and apparently they might go on the permanent menu soon. Drinks were good as always (I have a goal to drink all 28 on the menu this year). Looking forward to my next visit!
Update:Two recent trips here have confirmed the food isn’t quite as good as it was initially… BUT still well above average! I don’t even want to review Ricardo’s… they do everything so perfectly that I want it to remain a secret.Full 10/10 for atmosphere. Nothing else to say.Full 10/10 for cocktails. Major kudos to their Mojito… they actually understand how to make a perfect no sugar mojito (upon request) that could possibly be better than what I make at the cabin. Flawless. An absurd 15/10 for the food. I know this is meant to be more of a cocktail lounge, but it is in the top 5 for food on 17th. Try to find a bad dish on their menu… I will happily reply to the comments.Given how awesome this place is they could easily double their prices and I would call it good value. Now they just need to expand.
Delightful spot!! Like taking a tropical vacation, we forgot we were even in Calgary. The drinks are poured heavy but are delicious and festive and quite reasonably priced (10 bucks per 2-3oz cocktail)! Not a large food menu, but the snacking foods were delicious and following the island theme. We had both corn nuts and the cashews and both were amazing! Top that off with jerk rub crab legs?!? We were in island heaven.
