You have to understand for all you Vintage lovers is that I loved Vintage. Old Vintage. I remember a time when they would flambe your dessert at your table and brought the cart out. I even used to work here. When I refer people for steak I send them here…So why is my rating low? Again, I’m a pescatarian and this is what I base my reviews on… Mostly. I had the escargot as an appetizer. Although the sauce was creamy and tasted great. I wasn’t satisfied with it just placed on top of a slice of bread… Yes I know it was a crostini, but I think I would have preferred it toasted slightly. I was willing to jeopardize my well being for this creamy sauce cause I love escargot. I was disappointed.Then there was the market seafood, which was the red snapper. It hade literally no taste. It just tasted like pan fried. Literally.So if you are a pescatarian, I just wouldn’t be into this place much. If someone wants steak with you, just think carefully about your choices. Its not like the snapper was cheap. I ate half and passed it down the table.Our waitress was great her support was not so great. We were a large party but for her support to be frustrated and not the waitress,, did not sit well.
Decided I needed to go for a steak dinner, went to the lounge, great spot if you are going to eat by yourself. The steak and sides were perfect. My past experience took me there based on the first night. I will go backI had been for a friends birthday party, there were about 20 of us. It can be hard with a group that large but the meals all came out at once so we ate together. Everyone raved about their food, from the Prime Rib to the Pasta’s and steaks, all good. The sides are huge, make sure to share them. they are big enough for two or three.The French Onion soup was classic, well prepared, not overly done and perfect amount of onions, broth and topping.
I’ve been here a few times now. One of the few steak houses that I consider to really carry quality aged beef. The service is fast and exceptional.
Hands down the best rib eye you will find in the city. Just perfectly marbled and so juicy. It was really cool to have the waiter explain the different cuts of meat and how he would recommend them cooked. The steaks are definitiely a 5 out 5, the sides are only a 3 out 5
It’s possibly one of my favourite restaurants in Calgary and probably the best steak chophouse in the city. The service is always good and the food is always impeccable.
Very good steak, a little pricey but expected for high end dining. Waiters know their steal cuts really well. Wagyu steak was delicous, melts in your mouth .Definitely an experience, not much seasoning but very well cooked. Side were tastey. Hard to find parking….. only disappointment was that the lava cake did not lava…. :/
The best steak you can get in Calgary. When the waiters explain the cuts so expertly, you know that they know how beef should be prepared. I’ve been here five or six times, and not once have they not understood what medium rare should be. For those of you who think The Keg to be good, then you must have never tried Vintage. When Alberta brags about their beef, this is where it should be sampled.
