I visited the Black Diamond Bakery to quell my sweet tooth. It was a mistake. The counter staff seemed to have chips on their shoulders which says it is not a good place to work, so poorly managed. Everything looked very tasty. I choose an apple fritter. I ate in and had a pot of tea. The only seat available in this very small eating area was next to a dirty garbage can with a grey bussing tub on top full of dirty dishes and liquids. Very unappetizing. I sat with my back to it so I didn’t have to look but had customers constantly reaching over me to toss garbage and place dirty dishes. The teapot was chipped. The sugar was in packets. There was a tall dispenser which dispenses plastic cutlery. Odd. The fritter was so greasy the oil was dripping. It was also overcooked. My guess is the oil is too low in temperature. Not a fun experience.

Not sure if she is the manager, but being front line, she is very gruff and does not seem interested in customer service. She does not greet you, and if you ask questions, she is very curt. So, regardless of having a good product, we will not be back.

Wow. Fantastic. Fresh. Scrumptious wide-eyed happiness. It’s so odd to me that North America never caught on to the bakery thing like the rest of the world. What a terrible thing that I’m on a motorbike and can’t take more treats home with me!
Best donuts in the world. Try the banana creme filled. Also the best fresh hamburger and hotdog buns… I’ve grown up eating the bread and buns from here, so maybe I’m biased, but I think a lifetime of patronage speaks for itself. my favorite bakery in the world.
Time-honored goodness. I’ve been a patron of this bakery and coffee shop under the current owner for over 20 years. Everything is excellent – bread, buns, pastries (to die for) and sandwiches. There are many long-term Calgary customers who make the beautiful drive regularly. Old-fashioned goodness. Pre-order if you have favorites. They also stock Danish specialty items – relish, mustard, crackers, etc.
