The food was amazing, great restaurant atmosphere and love the service. I got the spider roll and the tonkotsu ramen. The ramen was not to soggy and the broth was flavourful. The spider roll was fresh and tasteful and I enjoyed it. Would recommend and will come back soon.
I was under the assumption that they would have some good ramen, since they were pretty well known for that ramen challenge a while back.No. Most lacking ramen i’ve had in Calgary. Got the Korean Ramen and the soup tasted like water and kimchi. That’s it. Watered down kimchi. Also tried some donburi that i also found to be lacking. I mean it wasn’t BAD, but there was nothing special about it. Literally something you could get from the frozen food section.Service itself was alright. The staff were nice, but they really took little care of us. We had to call them over for water, for our order, and for the bill. I don’t think they checked on us once on their own. I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily say that was a bad thing, since they eventually came over when we waved them down, but just an observation.Maybe the sushi is better, but i probably won’t come back just for that.
This is a late review but came here when they first opened and the food was absolutely terrible! The ramen broth was full of MSG, the charsiu was like 90% fat so we barely ate any since of lack of meat. The steamed Bun was cold which is very disappointing. We ordered the gyoza and it was deep fried and had the thickest wrapping ive ever had in a dumpling. Worst part was it came with Thai Sweet chilli sauce for dipping… *face palm* Would never come back here again. Only have an extra 0.5 rating because the service was good, they gave us 10% discount after being brutally honest with them about the food (they kept coming to ask us how our food was like 5x before we told the truth).
Decent place. Pretty nice and big place, went in Friday night and got attended to quickly.Service was quick and food was good. Just came for ramen though but will be back for the sushi
Have tried this place on 2 occasions, once in person and one take out. The first visit, it was decent. Nothing to rave about, pretty standard. 2nd experience I got take out. Portions extremely small for the price. Most disappointed with the Salmon Don its $19. It comes with about a cup of rice, 3 small filets of salmon and a small piece of zucchini, eggplant, sliver of red pepper and 1 floret of broccoli. No sauce on any of the vegetables which they grill and it tastes just burnt. For the price you would expect more. Doesn’t even come with a salad or miso soup. Not that impressed. Would give my most recent experience a 2 but my first visit was decent that it will get a 3. Probably won’t order take out again or any of the don’s. The rolls are quite small as well.
Probably the worst Ramen I have tried in Calgary Came in and was considering trying the Ramen challenge. Decided against it. There were about 8 of us, and we tried a variety of the Ramen and they were all pretty bad. I’m almost 100% sure, it’s Chinese made Ramen. ***Pretty sure I could of finished Ramen challenge, but I think they make it so terrible so it’s close to impossible to finish.
This restaurant is huge and has an extensive menu. The only issue is parking the parking lot is small and theres still construction out front, so you will probably end up parking in the parking lot in front of Bed Bath and Beyond, which is only a few steps away.We ordered a bunch of different items as there was quite a few of us. Everything was delicious but the most standout items were:Fois Gras Sushi-requires 1 day notice if you want to order this-what can I say, its fois. It was like rich butter coating my throat.Anything Deep Fried we ordered shrimp tempura and yam fries but they were picked at before I could take my photographs. Because we ordered so many dishes, these two plates sat for a while before we began nibbling on them again but they still retained their crispiness! (Unlike some restaurants where if you dont eat it right away, the tempura batter turns soggy.)Ramen We requested spicy garlic (when you cant decide between garlic and spicy, ask for both!) ramen and it was delicious. I would describe their house special ramen as Japanese inspired with their own distinct style. The noodles were spicy and chewy, while the broth was garlicky. There were three thick cuts of pork and half an egg cooked just right (aka not cooked all the way and dry). Contrary to some of the other reviewers, our ramen was served hot (any hotter and I would have burnt my tongue) but I do agree while the broth was still enjoyable, it could have been a bit more rich.Black Sesame Ice Cream-make sure you leave room for ice cream. We were told that their ice cream is imported from Japan and it is extremely delicious.Service was friendly and helpful. The food came out quickly. Very enjoyable night!
