When people ask where to get Chinese bakery products …. specifically the traditional cake with whip cream, fruit topping and such….the place that comes to mind is Hong Kong Bakery. They have multiple to shoes from and decorated well. Fresh cream and fruits to top. Tasty…and super filling….my go to is still ice cream cake but sometimes it is good to have variety. Price: $$$Service: Taste:

Stingy and Worst Attitude Ever. First time I visited, I asked for a box to hold my 5 pastries but was told by this lady (the owner?) that they only give out boxes for 6+ items. So I grabbed a sticky rice dumpling and asked for a box, but then she said it’s not a pastry and doesn’t count. So she put my flaky pastries directly into plastic bags! Disgusting and the pastries looked like crap by the time I got home.Second visit, I bought 6 pastries (individually wrapped in small clear plastic bags) and again the lady did not give me a box. I asked for one, and she stared at me for a bit, then looked over at another lady in the back as if she needed help in coming up with a reason to refuse me. Then a few long seconds later, she looked at me again and said they don’t give out boxes for pastries that are already individually wrapped. Wow seriously? How expensive are those cardboard boxes? If you don’t want to give them out, just don’t order any boxes…Also the pastries in this location in the South do not taste nearly as good as the ones in the Chinatown store. The Chinatown store said they transport the raw pastries to the South location where they’re baked, so the tastes should be similar. But because the South is not as busy and they stick the pastries into plastic bags before they cool down, the pastries get a bit soggy and are not as fresh. In any case, I will only buy from the Chinatown store from now on. krispybites.com
