I have had several teppanyaki dinners here. My steak is usually over cooked, but the flavour is still good. The sesame sauce goes well on pretty much everything. Service is mediocre.
If I could choose 0/5,, I would have chosen that. Very bad service. I had to wait 15 mins while there were plenty of empty tables. Also, waited another 45 mins for the cook to prepare the steaks for us.
Came here for a large family birthday as which is usually the case to ever go to Japanese Village. Been going here for decades and never knew they had a sushi menu until a couple weeks ago. The oyster ponzu was a generous serving that was sitting in a large pool of ponzu sauce and onions which is tasty as hell. The soup was hot and savory, so that was aight. The sushi was ok, nothing too great but the pieces were large. The New York Steak was cooked perfectly and was served with some shrimp and vegetables which was so nicely cut for you to dip into sesame sauce. Probably one of the best sauce to meat combos ever invented by man.We went the southside location and its pretty much the same Japanese Village everywhere. You come here for the entertainment of someone cooking and tossing food around. It reflects in the steak prices as steaks at the Keg seem more worth it but where else can you go and where a Geisha wig for your bday.Sal says: Just Try It#yegeats #yeg #yegdt #food #foodie #foodporn #foodgasm #foodpics #foodstagram #instafood #delicious #hungry #yummy #dinner #lunch #japanese #sushi
The food is awesome every time we go.Always a guaranteed cooked to perfection steak!Their salad dressing and sesame sauce are like no other
Eight of us attended for a birthday celebration. Food was good but overpriced. Portions were small to adequate depending on what you order. Chef was entertaining & made us feel welcome. Service was good to start with but as the restaurant got busier our server was hard to find. Had to ask twice to get served our birthday cake & tea.
Cost to Feed. The stuffed 7 of us at a small table leaving little to no elbow room. when we did the drink order we asked for water, we had to asked again. in the end i got up and got my own water. the chef was really nice does some minor flipping of the spatulas nothing to exciting. The veg and shrimp were great but spending 80 dollars for two fried steaks that are slightly over cooked is ridiculous. then then yook our dishs away bu t never brought the tea. our waitress said we have to ask even though its on the list. sp in the end i wouldn’t wastw the time or money on the Gateway location. start downtown where they maybe try a little harder.
Wrong place to go when you have allergies. We went here for a friend’s birthday party and had a pretty awful experience. My daughter and I have allergies and both had reactions to our meals. Neither of us can eat gluten so were not served soup. Our salads came without dressing, and she was not told she would only have salt and pepper for seasoning her meal. Mine was prepared in the kitchen and served before they started even cooking for the rest of our group. The waitress was decidedly unpleasant and we had to enter our own payment into the debit machine as she disappeared. I’m happy to tip for good service, but resented the mandatory 15% after a horrible night out.
