It’s not my top go-to place for pho but if you live in the south side and you want something decent, what do you do right? Hung Phat? Spring Roll Kitchen? Brooklyn Tomato? Pagolac? Tien Tuyen? There’s nothing, really. So I’d say this is one of the better picks. I especially like the Hu Tieu here because you can’t get it anywhere else in town. Everything else probably tastes adequate. I think this place is worth a shot, I’m not sure why the ratings are below 3.0 though.
Don’t go to the restaurant if you are hungry or want good food. The portion sizes are small and items are pricy. Dishes are approx $15 each and are half the size or less of other places. You get 1 small piece of thin grilled pork chop with your rice. Average person could easily eat 2 dishes of their vermicelli or rice and not be full but that’s going to cost you over $30. The waiter said that’s the portion size. Taste was very average. No wonder this place isn’t busy!
We stumbled onto this place soon after it opened, and were excited for more pho places on the south side. Pho Langs did not disappoint. The broth is excellent, and avoids the excessive salty flavour a lot of places get. It’s a really complex flavour. The beef is always cooked great, and isn’t super fatty which is nice. The spring rolls and the onion cakes are both fantastic. The only qualm I have with this place is the sauce that comes with the onion cake is a little overwhelming, but it’s such a minor detail. This is awesome pho for the south side, I’m so glad we have a decent spot.
