Beep, beep, beep. As soon as we ordered, we heard it. The microwave doors opening and closing before our food came out. There was no aromas coming from the kitchen and the food we ordered was disgusting. Ugghhh aside from the fact that this place had mold on the ceiling (I’ve eaten in far worse, believe me), it sure didnt help it’s cause. Head down the street for 2 other marvelous thai places.
Great meals. Ordered the Tom Kha soup which was amazing! As well as the red curry and coconut rice. Food was hot and delicious! My only complaint is the slow service when we were ready to leave. Can’t wait to return!
The spring rolls were same as you get anywhere else. The green and penang curry was good. They put a sweetener in the coconut curry which was delicious. Our pad thai came out 20 minutes after the rest of the food, which was really annoying. The shrimp was so fishy we couldn’t eat it – pad thai comes with three shrimp. I will not order seafood here again. Portions were really small. The penang comes on a plate with very little sauce. All in all, the taste, shrimp aside, was good.
Last call. I had not eaten here before, but one night this weekend I felt a hankering for some Thai food. It was about 10 after 9 p.m. when I called and was told that they closed at 9:30. No problem – I could be there before then and they said they would have the food ready – great service!The food was delicious, tho’ a little pricey for the portion size (especially the Pad Thai) Maybe I got the last dregs because it was so close to closing time – I will be back to check it out further in the near future for sure!
Great food. We had the Pad Thai, the seafood in tasty brown sauce, and fried noodles (I can’t remember the names of the last two dishes, but that’s the basic description of each). The food was really, really good. I love Thai food and this place is doing it right.
It looks sketchy but it’s good. Nestled next to the Derrick motel it looks way sketchy but inside is bright and clean with lots of interesting dcor to look at while you are waiting for your meal. The service varies visit to visit but the food is good. The green and red chicken curries are always good and the Kratong thong appetizer (chicken in crispy little flower shapes) is very cute and tasty. It is good food at a reasonable price.
Delicious Thai Food!. I’ve been to Thai Orchid quite a few times now, and love going there. The atmosphere seems like a family-run restaurant, and I’m willing to bet that’s what it is since it’s always the same servers (owners?) there. They’re always very gracious and pleasant. The service time isn’t the fastest, but it’s kind of nice to not feel rushed when I go out to eat.I usually end up eating the same thing every time: coconut rice and Tom Kha Gai (a spicy coconut milk and chicken soup). I’ve also tried the red and green curry and a couple other dishes and really enjoy them as well. My boyfriend (who is a very meat and potatoes type guy) even likes the food at Thai Orchid.Overall, I really recommend Thai Orchid for some delicious Thai food, right here in Edmonton!
