I will not go to Blue Star Diner again. I went there in the late morning (Sunday). The wait only ended up being about 10 minutes as opposed to the estimated 30. However, when the server refilled my coffee, it splashed on my white coat. When she left, I saw that it was also spilled on the table around my coffee. She didn’t even seem to notice. My buttermilk pancakes were unappetizing although I ordered it with bananas instead of berries. The maple syrup did not taste like maple syrup, which wasn’t as good. I’ve come before for late dinner, and they had stars hanging from the ceiling that time. There were no stars this time, so it didn’t look as nice because it lacked character. It was also much busier, and too noisy.
Went as a group of 5 on a Saturday and we all left very happy and very full. We all really enjoyed our meals, and loved the selection of juices for mimosas. The small space adds to the charm but makes it hard to get in during busier times.Staff is very friendly and fun.
I got something similar to a corned beef hash and it was really good. Ingredients were top notch. It just had about a cup of too much oil….
This should be a 3.5 ratingI had the eggs benny, liked the fresh lemon in the hollandaise sauce and was of good quality. But the hash browns really need to improve, they were cubed and too small, overdone, soggy. The best way to make a hash brown is cut about 1/2 inch cubes from organic potatoes, deep fry in rice bran oil till they’re crisp, fry up some nice onions, dash of oregano powder, and finish off with fine cut parsley and put some of that left over hollandaise sauce on top, dash fresh ground pepper. If they improve the hash browns might give them a 5 Star
Great food and service. I had the 1st Ave burger with dirty fries. One of the best burgers Ive ever had. Beef patty topped with pork belly, homemade sweet pickles, cheese, a fried egg etc. Its a flavour monster. The dirty fries are topped with caramelized onions and cheese sauce. I definitely recommend this place when you are in the mood for good fresh diner food. Ill be back to try some other menu items for sure.
The chorizo burger and fries are amazing. Hands down one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. The restaurant is small, so expect a bit of a wait and in my experience for this reason they haven’t been able to accommodate a larger group.
Went for brunch and we had the huevos. It was really tasty however on the menu it said that it comes with refried beans but we just got normal whole beans. Can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu. girlwithbambieyes.co.uk
