Came here for lunch. It’s a neat little spot in bridgeland. The service is great and the pizzas were large ! Lots of leftovers. The one I ordered had thin sliced salami, honey and basil. It was quite tasty. I would have loved more basil though.
I was expecting more from LDV Pizza Bar based on glowing reviews I had read prior to proceeding with booking a reservation.I love the building – the climbing plants/vines up the exterior wall and beautiful Juliet-style windows captured my attention instantaneously as we drove up. The building boasts character.Unfortunately they do not have air conditioning, it was not on or not working when we were there. There is nothing worse then an uncomfortably hot restaurant (it was to the point I wanted to get back to the car for some AC relief). The table we were sat at was sticky from the previous diner(s). The menus were disastrous – spills and stains, torn up. The lack of cleanliness was (almost) enough to dwindle an appetite… but hey, we came to eat!We were greeted promptly which was great. We enjoyed our appetizers. The bruschetta was excellent, the bread was doughy rather then crispy which I like.We ordered a pizza and gnocchi. The pizza was nothing to write home about, not good but not bad – MEH. The gnocchi was luke-warm upon arrival. We ate the gnocchi in a rush as it neared cold in temperature. We skipped dessert and made way to our car for some heat-relief! I wouldn’t return based on my experience and overall impression.
Absolutely amazing. The minute you walk into LDV Pizza Bar’s sunny, rustic interior you feel like you’ve been transported to a Neapolitan farm house. All the staff are extremely knowledgable and friendly, and service was prompt and attentive without feeling like the servers were hovering. After a recommendation from the waitress, we started off with an order of calamari ($15). The calamari were nicely breaded and perfectly seasoned, and the tomato sauce that came with it was delicious. My only complaint is that they were a little thickly sliced for my taste, but that is really just personal preference. For my main I decided to try the Gnocchi ($16), while my friends got the Funghi e prosciutto cotto ($17), Vegetarian ($17) and Salciccia ($17) pizzas. Our food arrived quickly, and portions are quite generous. The Gnocchi was absolutely incredible: meltingly tender dumplings cooked to perfection and coated in a rich, beautifully balanced tomato sauce with a hint of basil and a dusting of parmesan. After suffering through the disappointment of rubbery, tasteless gnocchi at too many restaurants, LDV has renewed my faith in the dish. And, after sampling my friend’s pizzas, I can safely say the pizza here is some of the best. All featured a generous amount of toppings that didn’t overwhelm the delightfully chewy crust. My favourite was probably the vegetarian, with its roasted zucchini, eggplant, and mushrooms, but the Salciccia was a close second (the sausage was pretty addictive, adding the perfect amount of saltiness). LDV Pizza Bar is a definite must-try: you won’t be disappointed.
Better than Una! It was a great place, cool atmosphere and good service. It was just a random virus but we were very pleased with the different flavours and good crust.
What great food! Enjoyed the San Francesco pizza, fried mozzarella and the oven fries. Everything used very high quality ingredients and was cooked to perfection! We made reservations on a Saturday night and the seating wasn’t great – right by the door – and we couldn’t move to another table because they were all reserved. Besides the not so great table location, the friendly service and excellent food made up for it.
Came here for lunch (finally) with a client. I had head good things and wasn’t disappointed. They carry quite a few local Alberta beers which is great. We both ended up ordering the lunch special for $19. We started with a small salad which was a great way to fool the body into thinking it was eating healthy. Then came the infamous pizza – a full sized thin crust that was cooked perfectly with copious amounts of cheese. It was so big I ate only half. Then a small portion of tiramisu to finish off. $19? What a score. I’ll have to come back for more za soon.
Amazing! The atmosphere felt like I was on a holiday! I love the open windows! We had the calamari, not too greasy or chewy. We had the San Francesco, highly recommended if you like Gorgonzola (blue cheese). The staff were lovely! I will definitely be returning!!
