This was not very memorable Indian food. We came here for New Years’ for dinner and were hoping for a bit better than what we had. Nothing was particularly bad, but it just felt like it was missing something (maybe not spicy/flavorful enough). We heard a rumour that the management or a chef of this restaurant changed recently and that it used to be better, but I don’t know whether this is true or not.
We met an old friend at Puspa for lunch. As mentioned by others, the place hasn’t changed much in 20 years. It was our go-to when we lived in Capital Hill. Service is quiet and friendly. Each of us enjoyed a Curry Combo and were hard pressed to finish the generous meals of soup, curry, rice, salad, chai and rice pudding. The soup is very good with layered flavours. I thought the chicken curry was good; tender chicken, rich medium spicy sauce, yummy! Thanks Puspa.
I was looking forward to this place. Sadly disappointed. Our take out order was all vegetarianPortions sizes 12 oz styrofoam containers = 1.5 cups for $10.50?!! That was the same for all of the orders with the exception of the rice with was 3 cups for $5.50 which they said would feed 2-3 ppl.Hmmmm so what did they expect 1.5 cups to feed? Other restaurants $10.50 would be enough for 4-5 servings. It was not like we ordered meat dishes. We ordered garlic naan but got regular naan that was burned. Will not be back. I will drive to Little Spice in the south.
Every time I have ordered their Chicken and Lamb Madras to-go it has been DELICIOUS! But unfortunately, every time I ate in at the restaurant the food sucked! I tried a few different dishes and they all tasted equally bad. 🙁 The restaurant itself is tiny, and you will be bumping elbows with the other customers. I would not recommend eating there- maybe try the Chicken Madras delivered.
Delicious Lunch at the Puspa. I had a delicious chicken curry lunch at the Puspa last Friday. It was served on a special plate with the chicken curry in one segment, tasty rice in another, salad in the next one, a half slice of naan bread in another, and the dessert included in the final one. This was one of the luncheon specials. It was a tasty bargain for $9.95 (not including gst). I’ll be back.
Bleagh. Sucks, what else do I need to say?
