Cosy, family-run pizza joint with tasty pies. The fact that Stromboli Inn is in an old house is not only cool, but makes for a very welcoming space. We decided to try a large pepperoni and mushroom ($21), large ham and fresh tomato ($21), and a small Stromboli Sausage ($16). Our server was incredibly friendly and personable, and our pizzas arrived pretty quickly considering we were informed that there were 15 pizzas ahead of ours. Stromboli Inn has one of the more unique crusts in Calgary: its very fluffy with a thin, crisp exterior, but lacks the delightful chewiness a lot of crusts have. While good, I’m not sure it’s my favourite. Toppings on all the pizzas were very generous, and the sauce here is absolutely delicious, but I would have preferred if all of them had slightly more cheese. The pepperoni and mushroom was definitely my favourite, followed by the Stromboli Sausage (the addition of rosemary was lovely, but I would have liked it better had the potatoes been sliced rather than grated), followed by the ham and fresh tomato (I found this one got soggy quickly and was missing something). A tad on the expensive side, I might opt for another place the next time I’m in the mood for pizza.
