It’s a greasy spoon (think along the lines of a 2 or 3 star Smitty’s or Denny’s type place). Been stopping here for years as a way point when passing through but it’s more through convenience and location than the draw of the service or quality of food. It’ll never win any culinary awards (soggy toast, weak coffee, overcooked sausages, greasy hash browns, etc) but it’s a decently located place with reasonable portions of ok-ish grub that fills a hole and is produced at a reasonable speed – once the order is taken! Pricing can be a little ambitious and service is very hit or miss. (Waitress was very disengaged, no warmth, just tried to plonk us in a wet seated booth which we asked permission to change as it was, er, wet? Seemed hassled but it wasn’t exactly busy so anyone’s guess why). Sat for several minutes after the menu’s were closed and eventually caught the eye of a member of staff and our order was taken. It’s in Canmore not too far off the trans-Canada which makes it convenient and it’s not McDonald’s, so there’s the plus points but watch out, Craig’s, apparently Smitty’s is located not too far from you, so they may be getting a try out next time.
My friend and I wanted to have a nice Valentines Breakfast so we drove out to Canmore to eat at Craigs way station. Lets just say it was the worst service ever arrived around 10 waited 20mins to be seated and there was no line up so there was no excuse why we should had to wait that long. Finally got seated asked the hostess if we could have a booth she rolled her eyes at me said while I have to clean it. Like it was pain to ask her we had been waiting 20mins anyways so whats an extra minute. Waited another 20mins before our waitress finally came and got our order. My friend asked for a pancake and butter on side surprise they got it wrong no pancake and buttered all over her toast. Coffee was cold and when asked for a refill gave me one but didnt refill my friends, the waitress there were wearing sweatpants with camel toe showing. So needless I was not impressed and did not leave a tip and to top it off the waitress threw the receipt in my face. I definitely wont be returning. Its crap that they advertise it as Service is friendly and the bottomless coffee pours freely during a leisurely breakfast or lunch.
Always seem to stop here on the way home from a vacation. This place can move customers faster than anyone I know. Some of the most prompt, exceptional service out there. The food is decent but no means 5 star. I find the food a tad on the greasy side, but it’s just what people seem to be looking for there. Definitely a must stop when you’re in the neighbourhood
Went here for brunch on a Sunday. The hostesses were very disorganized, but we had only ashort wait at the door while they found a clean table. Our server was great and the food was awesome. I had the eggs benedict and my mom had the french toast. Would definitely return.
It was a very friendly family owned restaurant. We went there pretty late at night and was pretty happy to find out they serve breakfast all day. They have some good choices. It’s very similar to Denny’s but with less grease. I love the Cowboy’s breakfast!
Came here with a friend on Sunday for a power breakfast. Well my power breakfast is a good ‘ole English style breakfast. Service great, food great and was ready for my 14k hike after. Thanks guys!
A great place for a quiet breakfast after a long day at work. I came to get some breakfast here after work, it was quiet enough, no one bothered me or asked me questions. Favorite part was the coffee kept coming and the food was filling and tasty for a great price. All in all a great place, though it can be busy at times.
