Post Sunday hike and a return to a long time favourite seemed like a good idea. Late afternoon fall sun pouring through the windows accentuated the crisp white tablecloths and sparkling glassware. Pasta with short rib for me and pasta with scallops for the Mrs. Only so-so. Bread was offered and a brick of something arrived that broke into cubes. It belonged in an all you can eat chain. Dry, rubbery, and not in keeping with the decor or culinary history of this spot. Adding insult to injury, the bread was a $3 charge on the bill. Wine and service were good. Come on Murietta’s, you can do way better.
