Pretty good for a Thai food place. Definitely can’t go wrong with it if that’s what you’re craving. The coconut rice was absolutely delicious and would recommend it with any of the curries. We had no idea what the hours were so I snapped a photo of what has been posted.
It’s a good place with friendly staff, but if youre a meat lover.. Stay away, we ordered chicken spring rolls, thai bbq duck, and green curry, (whatever that was) we only got very tiny portions of meat. I am not kidding.. Especially on the spring rolls. So disappointed on what I paid for the food amount of food we got.
We were in the mood for Thai food and decided to give this a place a try. The food was decent but wasn’t really reminiscent of true Thai food. Unfortunately we probably order the wrong thing, but still I would have expected flavours like lemongrass, galangal root, kaffir leaves and Thai basil to shine through. The Tom kha noodle soup tasted like chicken broth with coconut milk and it also had a sweetness to it coming from the fried onions. It wasn’t horrible, but it did not remind me of tom kha whatsoever. Furthermore, my husband had the cashew chicken and it was basically boiled vegetables with a little chicken and cashews. Definitely not worth the price. The service was good, but the food was not what I was expecting.
I’m sorry I’ve never stopped into this stellar Thai place before which makes me depressed when I think of all the delicious meals I missed out on. It’s a teeny place (12 tables) decorated in obligatory Thai kitsch. The night we were there they had the tables covered in leather mats instead of the white linen table cloths that were wrapped up under a nearby table. And they were playing the Best of Aretha Franklin softly in the background under bright lights. So not necessarily the place I would go to for that post-spa romantic Thai date night with sweetie. It’s the place you go when you’re hungry and need to strap on a giant Thai feed-bag of perfectly executed dishes. Both the massamun beef curry and the panang curry with chicken washed down with a couple of Changs were marvellous – and generously portioned. Over yummy jasmine rice, we had enough to take home and fight over later. The food here is way better than Thai it Up in Canmore and even any Thai place I can think of in Calgary. And the service was spot on. With great import beer selection. Definitely on our rotation – punches way above its weight class.
The service was really good, awesome beer selection. The food was flavorful, and I would highly recommend the chicken spring rolls. The sauce that goes with them is excellent, and they are cooked perfectly. We had two mains and coconut rice. While I found everything pretty good, I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite Thai food restaurant. I was a bit disappointed with the noodle dish. The flavor was so good, and the meat and vegetables were cooked perfectly; but the rice noodles were all stuck together. Properly cooked, this should not happen, it really ruins the dish. Especially since the flavor was so good. Our other main was a peanut sauce stir fry, which was quite good, just a bit too salty. I was happy with the meats (we had beef and pork), they were tender, very tasty. The coconut rice was awesome. I would go back.
Finally found some half decent Thai food in Canmore. After moving here I was getting a bit worried that my favourite food couldn’t be found. I really enjoyed the green curry.
Great experience. I actually had a wonderful time at Thai Pagoda! The quantities were excellent, the juice purees we’re great and the service was nice too. Definitely get the spring rolls if you get the chance!
